I’ve only seen the first one, and I liked it! But I’m not huge fan or a lover of the series!
I like the books, even though I’ve only read the first two. And I liked the first Narnia movie. Prince Caspian was ok, but I thought the battle scenes were too long.
I’ve read the books and saw the first movie. I didn’t like them because the writing was far too simple, the Christian allegory was as subtle as a sledgehammer, and the stories seemed rather juvenile overall. I could understand how someone who read them while young could have a nostalgic love of them but they really don’t hold up. I much prefer to get my fantasy kick from Lord of the Rings.
I love the book series, and like the first film, but Prince Caspian wasn’t great and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader looks stupid.
I loved the 1st one, I have not seen the 2nd one, bu7t I don’t know about the 3rd one.
Disney sold the rights to 20th Century Fox, So I don’t know
I’ve never seen any of the Narnia movies, but I think I read one of the books in third grade. If I remember correctly, something with a silver chair?
Then I remember I saw the battle scene in one of the movies in Junior High, but other than that, I’ve never been a big fan of Narnia.
Well, I’ve read all the books and see both movies. I don’t really love them but for a strange reason, I’m almost a fan. I know a lot about the universe, at least.
I’ve read all the books and the first one (actually second) was pretty good, but the second one (actually fourth) was garbage. One of the most disappointing movies of 2008 (thank God for Wall-E and The Dark Knight to hold me over). I am not excited for the third (actually fifth).
I’ve read all the books about five times, used to love 'em. But now I’m more into Lord of the Rings. I still enjoy the movies, I’ll probably go see “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” in theaters because it’s one of my favorite books in the series.
It’s kind of obvious what I think based on my username and avvie.
I actually quite enjoyed the Narnia books and the movies. I liked Prince Caspian (the movie), but it wasn’t as great as the first. I’m actually very excited for the Dawn Treader movie to come out mainly because it was always my favorite book (we’re going to see it in 3-D as a Christmas present this year!! ). But the only thing I’m disappointed about that movie is the fact that Harry Gregson-Williams (the composer for the first two movies) will not be composing the music for this one.
I can understand why some of you guys didn’t like the books all that much… I don’t like some of them either. Especially Prince Caspian. I also found that The Last Battle was really hard to get into.
I think another reason why I like the movies so much is the fact that we have the “insider’s guide” to how they made the movies, and since I really want to go into moviemaking, it really seemed to inspire me.
And also, for the record, my favorite character out of the whole series is Aslan.
I love Narnia! I’m in the process of reading the books, I’m in the middle of #3 right now. And I like the movies, I’m looking forward to seeing the new one this year.
I agree with you, Daughter of Eve. The best thing about those movies was their music.
I’m ready to accept the new composer as long as he uses some of Gregson-Williams themes to give a musical continuity to the series.
SoA: Yeah… my sis and I were talking about that once, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t use the Narnia themes in there. As long as he keeps the Pevensie’s theme and Caspian’s, then I’ll be fine. He can come up with his own theme for the Dawn Treader itself, and I won’t mind.
Now I actually liked the Last Battle, I could understand it fine. (It might have to do with Revelations being my favorite book in the Bible. I tend to like stuff like that. )
Skunklover: I don’t really know why I had a hard time getting into it the last time I read it… because I enjoyed it very much the first time. But I definitely liked the references to the book of Revelation, as well.
^ That is another reason why I like Narnia so much - it has so many Biblical references in it; and Aslan is very much like a “Jesus”-type character. (Please, don’t bash me or anything - I’m just stating my opinion. ) I was actually kind of glad they added the “castle raid” scene in Prince Caspian, because it showed how they weren’t able to win without Aslan on their side; and when they thought they could do it on their own, the plan fell through. IMO, they should have had more scenes with Aslan in PC. I’m hoping we’ll get to see more of him in the next movie.
I liked the first one, but could have done w/o the sequel. Appaerently Fox will make the rest with Walden Media, with no Disney involvement. Disney, why must you be so Communist?
IncredigirlVirgina-because they had an argument with the producers on Christmas about the series…
The next film TVOTDT should be awesome if Fox spends some money on it…the rest of the series will not be as good unless they really ramp up The Last Battle…they could also do the Magicians Nephew…that one could be ok
Really sad to see the film leave Disney but then again it wasn’t doing that great with them anyways…
