Today, the day I am posting this thread, is “National Make Up Your Own Holiday Day”. No, I’m not kidding. No, I did not make this up. I got it from a book of trivia for every day of the year, and when I read this part, I figured it was rather interesting.
So what kind of personal holidays would you make up and how would you celebrate it?
The first one that comes ot mind for me is “Walt Disney Day”, set on December 5th (his birthday). All who love Disney and love 2-D animaiton ought to honor this day. To celebrate it, either go to Disneyland/Disney World, or watch Disney classics and/or turn your room into a total Disney-themed land. Or if there are other ways to remember Disney, feel free to add.
And, Pixar Day, of course. We can’t forget that, as Pixar fans, after all. But when should I set it? When Toy Story, the first CGI film, was released in theaters, or when Pixar first started?
I think Pixar day should be set to when Toy Story was released. After all, that’s when their dream of doing a feature length CG film came true despite the obstacles that came their way.
Hmmm… Being the Harry Potter nerd I am, I am going to have say Harry Potter Day on July 31 (JK Rowling’s and Harry’s bday).
Being a satirist, I would create a Normal Day holiday to commemorate all of the normal days which seem to become less and less. You would celebrate by not.
My holiday would called “Nothing to Do Today Day”, and would be about having nothing to do. There would be a Tv special, and it would even have a song. Here’s how the song would go:
“Oh, the weather outside is crummy, and you feel as lively as a mummy. Oh there’s nothing to do, or say. It’s there’s Nothing to Do Today DAY! Don’t you know, when there’s nothing to do, you can do anything that you want to, you can go to sleep, run, and play, on there’s nothing to do, nothing to do today day!”
Anyone who knows where this is from gets a cookie or muffin.
I’d have an “Animation Day”, “Pixar Day” and “Do Something Day”.
The last one would be a day where you just go out and do something you’ve always wanted to do, be it paying a visit to an old friend, skydiving, or going out on a date with your sweetheart.
Sorta like Cornelius and Barnaby going to town and not returning till they’ve “kissed a girl” in Hello Dolly.
“…Even if I have to dig ditches for the rest of my life, I shall be a ditch-digger who once had a wonderful day.”
-Cornelius Hackyl
Well, I’m a Final Fantasy freak, so I would like to have a Final Fantasy Day on December 18th. What to do on this day? Well, playing FF, reading/writing fanfictions, listening to the music and so on…
Most definitely Pixar day which would change based on the release of the new Pixar movie every year. Everybody would have to watch all the past Pixar films, Play some Pixar video games and then go see the new Pixar film!
Let me second that call for July 31st… Harry Potter Day!
I do agree that Pixar Day should be the release date of Toy Story. That was the pivotal point in the Pixar starting timeline. If that movie was poorly received, then there would be no way for pixar to entertain us today!
My siblings and I are constantly making up random “holidays” based on inside jokes of ours… but we often forget the dates, so we’re not able to “celebrate” them the next year.
Wow, very impressive, Al-bob, I seriously didn’t think anyone would get that, and you get bonus points for quoting Buster too. Yeah, it was a terrible song, and I really only remember it because it was on a little while ago.
I would have Signature/Avatar creation day. Everyone comes together from the forum and stuff to create great and funny sigs and avatars for people to use
I would say there should be an “Animal Appreciation Day” and “Back to Childhood Days” for those who want to be like Peter Pan and the Lost Boys for a day. And something like “Bedtime Stories” day, which, I admit, is already like the “Anything Can Happen Day” suggested by TSS. Oh, and also “Impressions” Day. Quote or imitate all you like on that day!
little_chef_eva09:(sorry for the late notice) Really? That’s sounds fun!
