Nearly Done

probs, maybe another WALL·E one.

Plan on trying another Pixar movie like TI? :unamused: Just currious.

Carz it is

Cars is fine too. What ever it is, you’ll pull off something good.

Yeah, I feel the same as TSS. Here’s my honest opinion, along with a breakdown of your music video’s good and bad parts.

I liked the split-screen effect at the beginning and Luxo hopping in time to the drum beats. I would have liked the first footage of Wall-E to kick off the guitar riff at 00:15 but you prematurely jumped the gun. The first few lines were very inspired, I liked how you synched Shelby Forthright to the lines “You got a great car” and then Wall-E messing with the fire hydrant to “Yeah, what’s wrong with it today.” The ‘yeah’ part of “…your hairdo, yeah,” was nicely matched to Eve’s head moving at 00:47. 1:00 to 1:27 had pretty good images that went well with the lyrics too!

Then nothing happened in the first “Wooh!” at 1:28. Eve shooting at Wall-E or something would be a real kick in the pants, for example. The space walk in the chorus line was a nice touch. I expected something at “Wait!” at 1:48, but nothing either. “Who’s that guy” onwards from 1:49 was pretty well matched. Then I expected something from 2:05 to 2:39 but the clips dragged on and were quite random. Perhaps another montage or epic scene would have gone well with the chorus (especially with the whooping “Ooh, ooh, oooohhh!”), but again nothing exciting happened. Then things started to pick up again from 2:39. I loved the “I like you” repetition in time with Eve’s spinning at 2:55. You got the hang of timing John and Mary’s slide with the babies with the “Wooh” and Ooh, ooh, ooohhh!" at 3:03 and 3:06 but by then you had wasted the earlier chorus lines. Then 3:15 to the end was relatively well done.

Overall, you did a pretty decent job for a music video you whipped up because “you were cheesed off you lost all your work.” You music video would have been so much more impressive if you had edited the footage more tightly, especially with the great chorus lines and the drum beats, so I’m left with an unsatisfied feeling. So it’s a 3/5 for me too, and partly because I liked the song choice to begin with.

Don’t take my criticisms to heart, though. I’m sure you’ll do better in the future, it all takes practice and being a little ‘nitpicky’ in getting your editing down to the second. I, for one, can’t wait to see you do a Cars music video. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a good one, so I’ll be waiting!

Thanks, I like criticism, then I can work on it. I too, thought the clips dragged on once i had watched it a few times.

Now on to cars.

What is your song choice for Cars?

Don’t know yet, still deciding. Decided to take a 1-day break from editing.

Well, I’m glad that you took my constructive criticism well. I actually had planned to use that song for a 2006 in Film music video, but it never really got off the ground. Maybe I’ll start it up again when I find the time, then we can compare our efforts! It’s great to see the song being used by a fellow video-editor though, featuring one of my fave movies, no doubt.

I can’t wait to see what song you’ll use for the Cars music video!

do these lyrics soudn fitting?

I had a dream on a back lot
I saw my life like a long shot
I smile at faces in a picture parade
of all the stills from the films that you’ve made
and we would see me a ???
up there drinking coffee on the G O condo

Elstree, Remember me
I had a part in a B movie
I played a man from history
Elstree, I look at me
Now I work for the BBC
Life is not what it used to be

I took no dives in the fight scene
I had a stuntman keep my suit clean
there’s no technology could make up the song
they stop the orchestra and you get it wrong

elstree, remember me
I had a part in a B movie
I played a man from history
Elstree, I look at me
Now I work for the BBC
Life is not what it used to be
Elstree

They made a field into a war zone
I beat the enemy on my own
all the bullets just went over my head
there’s no reality and no one dead

elstree, remember me
I had a part in a B movie
I played a man from history
Elstree, I look at me
now I work for the BBC
Life is not what it used to be

I don’t really understand the lyrics, and it’s not automotive-themed either. Is it fast-paced? I’ve never heard this song before, what’s the title?

Sounds like a suitable theme for Doc Hudson, though, the lyrics talk a lot about glory days past (or something like that).

Hmmm, it sounds fitting. But I won’t know until I see the video.

It’s Elstree by Buggles.

Well, I have never heard of that song before.

Hmmm, I don’t know about this song for Doc, but if you can make it work, then extra kudos to you.

Can you suggest a better song?

WALL-E: Sure thing. I’ll suggest to you to use “Find Yourself” from the Cars soundtrack.

I’d prefer to use soemthing not from the soundtrack, because if it’s from the soundtrack, then it’s already been done!

GOT IT!
