Yeeah I’m starting a new ficlet thread for a few reasons.
-
I took a Pixar fic break, so the first thread hasn’t hasn’t been posted on in a while.
-
I feel I’ve improved my writing in the past few years, so I’d like a fresh start.
-
The old thread was getting long anyway.
-
The “Story Puppies” pun got older the more I didn’t write any actual Ratatouille fic. xD;;;;
If anybody wants to see the older fics, the thread is Netbug's Story Puppies - Fan Fiction - Pixar Planet Forums, but for the poor mod’s sake, please don’t comment on it/dig it up. If you wanna comment on one of those fics, you’re free to here. (In fact, if a mod would like to lock the old thread, that’d be awesome.)
WALL-E
Telling EVE

Spoilers! (Has anybody not seen this by now?)
She wants to know everything, and he wants to share with her. But trying to tell his story freezes him solid in a jumble, of time and curiosity and feeling when he wasn’t supposed to feel and grief, that would challenge even the liberty of full, eloquent sentences.
He’s facing her, the light of the truck’s open door not quite reaching him, conscious of the space between them as his hands merge.
But.
Only seconds go by before she mimics his gesture.
And only seconds more before she fervently reaches out to him and laces their fingers together.
She understands.

Spoilers!
At last, all the barriers are broken, by something as impulsive as flying through space together. They swirl, dip, speed up, slow down, whatever, but always with one mind. Somehow, she knows to slow down because his makeshift rocket isn’t as fast as her hover system. Somehow, he knows that he can go as fast as he wants because she wouldn’t let him get hurt. And he’s become more aware of the words he doesn’t know because she can say them so eloquently, but he finds himself unable to care if they can work together so well without saying anything.
He already knows they're on the same page.

Life Lessons

Spoilers!
WALL-E didn’t learn one, but rather two important things shortly after he met EVE. The first was, obviously, what it felt like to be in love with someone.
The second was that movies lied.
A lot.
Not that he held any disdain for his favorite movie because of that, but Hello Dolly! had shown a man taking a woman's hand, and the two of them singing and walking off screen together. There was no mention of being shot, or getting attacked by rampaging shopping carts, or falling off broken water towers, or ending up buried under pipes that may or may have not been more rusty than he was.
It had also said nothing about events like these making him even more determined to hold EVE's hand.
Or about how much the thought of not being able to do just that hurt.
By the time the ship came to take EVE back, WALL-E was no longer sure of what he was getting himself into. But WALL-E was still sure of one thing; if he could be near EVE, none of the nit-picky details mattered.
Hooray for Netbug’s WALL•E fanfics! They’re so awesome!
