New character in Ratatouille? (Spoiler)

The Star

Swordsman - Ha! But of course, only you would see that. :stuck_out_tongue:

You know, Iā€™m starting to

think that Colette is actually Mirage in disguise. Wouldnā€™t that be interesting: if Mirage actually kept

changing identities and skirting about the place? Rather awkward, yes, but stillā€¦

Well, Colette, Violette, can you not see the

similarities?

Iā€™m pretty sure that means

nothing. :stuck_out_tongue:

~~=oP

First, The Star Swordsman

was right about the name of the girl in Victor Hugoā€™s Les Mis?rables : itā€™s

Cosette.

Then, about the popularity of the name Colette in Franceā€¦ Well, letā€™s say it was popular 60/70

years ago
I donā€™t know any Colette, nor do I know any Cosette.

Besides that, I agree with

PixarVixen : youā€™re thinkig too much

My neighbors a few years ago

had a dog named Cosetteā€¦ I think it was a bichon frise, a French breed. (I never really saw the dog - she had

an evil streak a mile wide and 100 feet deep - so I stayed as far away from her as possible.)

So her nameā€™s Colette now? Ok. And she totally reminds

me of Mirage too.

That was a long time ago ā€“ perhaps Pixar wanted to add a

little ā€œmedievalā€ flavor to their film? :stuck_out_tongue:

And I like to think! It sharpens the mindā€¦

KE - Interesting. Iā€™m surprised that your neighbors chose that particular

name for their dog. It is a pretty name, thoughā€¦

Would the waitor in the teaser be considered a character?

TSS: Maybe, but itā€™s not 100% sure if heā€™s in the movie

yet.

The Star Swordsman - Most

likely, he will be. If not a main character, he might be a secondary (or backround) character. Letā€™s take a look

at backround characters from previous Pixar teaser trailers that were included in the final film:

A Bugā€™s Life - All of the circus bugs were shown, along with Flik, in this

teaser; and even though they are not the main characters, they were all featured in the movie.

Toy Story 2 - Only the little green aliens were shown in this teaser; they

are also backround characters, and were featured in the final film.

Finding

Nemo - Dory and Marlin are the main characters shown, but the moonfish were also present in the

teaser. The moonfish were also featured once in the movie.

The Incredibles -

Iā€™m not sure if this counts, but, in Mr. Incredibleā€™s room, a picture of Frozone (and some other anonymous

supers) can be seen in picture form on the memorabilia-packed wall. Frozone is not a major character, but he is

shown numerous times in the final film.

I donā€™t remember if Toy Story had a

teaser trailer or not, and in the Monsters Inc. and

Cars teasers, only the main characters were shown.

Iā€™m not sure if the same

will hold true for Ratatouille or not, but weā€™ll soon find out.

Some news appeared on Upcomingpixar

:
Thereā€™s this

g]picture, with Remy, Linguini, and most likely Auguste Gusteau. We can now have a good idea of what he

will look like

Thanks for the heads up

Archibald. Those were nice photos, and Iā€™m convinced that the one on the left-hand side is Auguste Gusteau.

Thereā€™s another bit of interesting information that I gathered from the Internet today:

(SOURCE:

http://movies.about.com/od/ratatouille/a/garrett110406.htm)

The above excerpt came from a Brad

Garrett interview, in which the interviewer asks him questions about Ratatouille.

The URL leads me to believe that this is old news (posted on 11/04/06 to be precise). Also, I donā€™t know how

credible the article is. Maybe Brad actually meant Gusteau instead of Rousseau? Or maybe the writers misheard

him?

Archibald and CountSolo

 • Interesting information ā€“ thanks for the links!

It sure looks like the figure on the far left could

certainly be Auguste Gusteau, considering that he is in line with two other major characters (Remy and Linguini).

As for the ā€œfactā€ that Gusteau is already dead and haunts the restaurant, wellā€¦thatā€™s

interesting. I wonder if itā€™s true?

Yeah, I can see that. Maybe they are voiced by the same actor?

In the very back of this picture you can see what seems to be gost Rousseau:

Holy

smokes, I think youā€™re right!

But Iā€™m wondering: if Garrett was the one who provided the voice for

Rousseau, then who provided Auguste Gusteauā€™s voice? I mean, the Gusteau character has been confirmed by Pixar

itself (you can check out the official Ratatouille website for evidence), so there

must be an actor voicing him (unless he doesnā€™t speak throughout the film).

JV - Wow ā€“ I never noticed that before! Wellā€¦actuallyā€¦I did, but I never made

the connection until I learned that there would be a ghost of a man in the film.

Perhaps Garrett voices

both characters ā€“ dead and alive? Either that, or they are two separate characters (Rousseau and Gusteau)

altogether. Perhaps Rousseau is Gusteauā€™s brother/relative?

Nice finds, guys! The idea of Rousseau and Gusteau being related in some way is pretty

plausible, since their names are pretty similar, and itā€™d make an interesting twist to have one of them dead and

one of them alive.

If you go to the link below

it says that Emile is voiced by Peter Sohn. Now go and get your

Incredibles DVD and play ?Making of The Incredibles? and fast forward til you stop it on 12 minuets and 20

seconds. Now listen to Peter Sohn and he sounds just like Emile!

ratatouille-the-movie.com/characters

JV - No kidding? Iā€™m gonna have to check that out on the "Making of the

Incredibles" featurette!!

I absolutely love that site you posted ā€“ I

found it a couple of days ago, too, and itā€™s just loaded with some new information that we hadnā€™t heard about

until now. Anton Ego looks pretty intimidating, and Skinner scares me even more now. On the plus side:

Coletteā€™s backround is almost exactly how I predicted it

 • I was correct concerning this assumption:

[spoil]Remy is the oldest of his siblings[/spoil]

 • Iā€™m starting to like Django a

little more now. Heā€™sā€¦ā€œplushierā€. (snigger)

But yeah ā€“ thanks for putting that up, JV!
