Actually, in an Albersons nearby my house, it is about $1.75.
$3.95 is the price printed on the cover of my copy. I guess the retail price varies.

Hoo Wow, thinks kinda get a little pricey these days don’t they?
Well I was just suprised it wan’t like seven or eight bucks, like a regualar magazine.
I remember my mom saying “You can’t have that” when I showed her this issue of American Girl. The thing was only about 50 pages, and it was like 5 bucks!

Thing is Mitch, it has been on that shelf for a while, which probably explains the price.
