New Ratatouille Calendar and Designs

Hello everyone,

As some of you may know, my dad is an animator. Being in the business, he knows tons of people, gets

discounts, and will also be given free gifts and trinkets from Disney Studios when he works there (yes, they’re

still kind enough to actually give away a few things). Well, he is working there

again now. Only yesterday, dad brought home a couple of surprises for my sister and I, one of them being this

little thing-a-ma-jig:

Seriously, my sis and and I gave a big

“whoop” when we saw this thing – and dad got

four of them!!!

Although there is nothing entirely new about this

calendar, you will notice quite a few differences and changes in the characters, namely these:

1. Emille now looks a little bit different than he did in the teaser

trailer.
2. Remy’s profile has been modified so that it looks a little

“cleaner” and more adequate concerning his title as a rat.
3. If you

look very closely, you will see that the Pixar animators added a few things to Remy

and his brother, Emille:

 • Their ears and nose have little fuzzy hairs on them. This is

typical of real rats, which have miniscule bits of fluff/fur on their ears and nose.

 • Inside of their ears

you may see small, brown and black dots/specs, just like in a real rats’ ears.

Even the

cheese that Emille is holding has little dents in it, a promising feature. You can imagine how much more detailed

the final film will look if even just these two characters have loads of detail on them already.

I will

try to post up a picture of the entire calendar (which has bite holes/marks in it and a drawn picture of Remy and

Emille on the back) when I have the chance.

It’s great to be in the animation business!!

Sweet!

You’re lucky to have a family member in the biz.

Emile looks so much cuter here, not that he didn’t

look cute before. His face is rounder and slightly smaller, and he doesn’t appear to be as bloated as he

has been. Emile’s fur color is also different. It’s a much richer brown with a hint of orange, not

pink.

I’d love to see more of this Emile style.

~~=oP

Thank’s alot for the picture Mitch! I can’t wait to see

more!

In my opinion Pixar made Remy look cuter then he did in the teaser trailer. (that?s a good thing

)
Emille looks like a totally new character to me.

PixarVixen - Oh yeah – it’s fun to have animators as parents.

Emille does like alot cuter in that particular picture – not to mention, his name seems to fit his

posture/looks a little more than they did when we saw him in the teaser trailer. Like you said, he is a little

less pudgy and slightly lighter in color.

I would also like to note/say that, due to the changes in

Remy’s and Emille’s facial features, they now look much more like brothers.

JV - Oh, my pleasure, JV! I saw that calendar and I immediately thought,

“I have to put this up on Pixar Planet so all the guys can see it!”.

And yeah – Remy is adorable beyond words. He looks more like a rat now, which I am extremely happy

about. Heheh.

Mitch- How does the calendar spell

Emille’s name? Is it “Emile”, “Emilie”, or “Emille”? Because I have seen his name

spelled differently.

JV - Actually, they don’t list his name at all. The most information they give

about Ratatouille on that calendar is the date, what two of the characters look

like, and a little inscription at the top (not shown) that says, “The Perfect Recipe for Cleaner Air!”.

But other than that, that’s it. I do wish they would have given out Mr. Fat Rat’s name, though.

I’m pretty sure it’s smelled “Emille”, however.

Off-Topic - By

the way, I love your new avatar, JV.

Thanks!

Mitch - I

have never seen his name spelled “Emille” untill you spelled it like that.

When are you

going to post up the other picture? I’m so excited to see it.

Wow that is so awesome!! Remy and Emille both look so cute!!! thanks

Mitch!

JV - No problem!

As for the name/spelling: Well, I guess we’re just gonna

have to wait until more information about it pops up then. Until then, we can only guess…or cheat and look it

up on a French baby name site or something. That’s what I do.

Your prayers have been answered, JV! I

decided to post up the other picture. Here ya’ go:

Remy hasn’t eaten any of his apple and is carrying it with ease. Rollie ate all of his and now has to

carry the core with a full belly. (snigger)

Edna - No problem, dude!

Awesome! Thanks again Mitch!

Heheh – you’re welcome! If you would like

to see the bitten off pieces of the calendar, just let me know.

Sweet!!! I love the way Emile looks!! and of course Remy is adorable… and I

love the speckles on the ears!! I don’t own rats, but I do own Chinchillas and they have speckles, so I

appreciate the detail!!!

Wow, that is totally awesome Mitch!!! :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for

sharing!!!

Off-Topic: Do your parents work for Pixar?

Googly-Bear - I know – the

detail is incredible. It took my sister and I at least ten minutes just to find everything they had added to each

character. Astounding… I’m going to love the film, no doubt about it.

Gasduude - No problem!

Off-Topic -

Ohhh…how I wish! Heheh – no, they do not work for Pixar Animation Studios, unfortunately. However, my dad has

been in the business for over forty years, and my mom has also been an animator for almost the same amount of

years. They both have worked for numerous studios, including: Nickelodean, Disney Studios, Hannah-Barbara, and

others. My sisters and I inherited the “genes”, so we’re one, big, happy family of animators.

As for Remy’s brother, I’d say if he did have the

French spelling, it should be Emil. Most French names only end in “e” if they are the female version.

(Michel/Michele, Rene/Renee, etc.)

I would still say it’s “Emile”, judging solely on how famous French

writer Emile Zola’s name is spelled. Other than that, a lot of French names for

girls do end with an ‘e’. The converse is true as well: A lot of names that end with ‘e’ are names for

girls.

KE - Oh yes – I forgot

about that. Well, perhaps it is spelled ‘Emil’. However, according to

Hmm…

Emilie…

oh, and Mitch, I love your siggy, could you direct me to a website that has screen caps so that I

can make an avatar for myself?

Firstly,

great pictures Mitch! The new style of both Remy and Emile…Emillie…Whoever the other rat is, does look a lot

better, both being more-rat like, but also more cute. They’ve also reverted back to Remy’s face as it was

before the poster with the knives on it, which makes him look a lot more likeable.

Googly-Bear - Why, thank you!

I got my siggy from this website:

and The Incredibles can be found here:

There you have it!

lizardgirl - No problem! Remy and Emilie/Emille do, indeed, look more like

rats in that particular picture, which I am happy to see. My mom says that she likes “Rollie”'s old

profile better, though. :stuck_out_tongue: (snigger)
