New Short Film

Hola I’ve been out for like a year or something and I just wanna say sorry because I kinda forgot my password lol. but everythings good now!

I was bored and didn’t wanna do my homework lol
Since WALL.E is coming out kinda soon, what kind of short film is Pixar gonna add to it? Any ideas?

Welcome, welcome, welcome back, Mcqueen&sally! Boy, I missed you so much!

The WALL•E short film sounds interesting. I bet it will be another original Pixar short.

well obviously. im just curious of what they’re gonna think of for a new short film, they already thought of:
-a tin toy
-a trapped snowman in a snow globe
-a jumping lamp
-a funny bird
-a monster buying a new car
-a tow truck afraid of blue lights
-one man bands
-an old man playing chess with himself
lol im curious

An 800-pound gorilla?

I moved this thread here because it has virtually nothing to do with Cars.

Anyway, carry on.

Ok, that is a completely ridiculous response.

How can the short attached WALL•E sound interesting if we haven’t even heard if it exists?

You might as well say the 10th iteration of the iPhone sounds interesting.

Interesting is a word that gets thrown around too much these days, most often in instances, when the poster is trying to be neutral because they have no opinion on the topic, or are just posting to push their postcount.

The title of this thread is misleading…

According to the first messages of precedent shorts’ threads (Your friend the Rat and Lifted) we knew about the original short on September '06 (!!), and the spin-off short on August '07.
So, for the WALL-E-based short it’s too early… but for the original one it’s very late…
Considering One Man Band, I talked about it in another forum in december '05 (and now i read on IMDb it premiered in Melbourn on August!).

I think that we should have already known the title of the next original Pixar short…

Cars (june '06) - One Man Band (aug '05)
Ratatouille (june '07) - Lifted (sept '06)
WALL-E (june '08) - ??? (???)

You forgot:
-an alien making an attempt to abduct a human

MC:Youre back, yay  !Now about the short film thing,I think I heard something about a cars short film but I don’t know if its true.

I wouldn’t count on it. Movie shorts are always released on DVD accompanying their related films.

to get this:

Anyway…

LOL I got that from the 2nd disc of TI. xD

Pixar’s very, very, very secretive of that sort of thing. That’s probably why we have to dig into the Internet to find that stuff.

You can search the internet all you like, but the chance you will find anything on it is very small. Pixar inherit their secretiveness from El Jobso. And if he doesn’t want you finding out, he won’t let you.

On the topic of short films, Pixar likes to submit them to a film festival right before the Oscars, so we should know about the new short by February, unless the screening was secret or something.
Off-Topic: When the Disney Annual Report is out I’d expect to see the first image of Up, so that’s also soon, and exciting.

Perhaps Pixar do not have a short lined up. Me might see something like Red’s Dream or The Adventures of André and Wally B. attached. Remember, Knick Knacks was attached to Stanton’s last film, Finding Nemo.

We probably will not see a Pixar short film in the Oscar’s this year, (unless they submit Your Friend The Rat) as the Academy Rules are as follows:

The film must have participated in a “recognized” competitive film festival and MUST HAVE WON THE BEST-IN-CATEGORY AWARD as specified in the Academy Festival List.

OR

The film must have been publicly exhibited for paid admission…

In the time period of

October 1, 2006 and September 30, 2007

And as far as I am aware, Your Friend the Rat wasn’t on display in that time, so It’s not in the running as far as I am concerned.

There is actually a new short film in production, actually Andrew Gordon is working on it, he said so himself on Spline Doctors, check it out to see for yourself.
EDIT: And here’s what he said:

P.S. Fun Fact from To Infinity and Beyond!
Finding Nemo didn’t have a short because they switched the release of Boundin" and One Man Band because of tehnical reasons (i.e. to make the shorts look as best as they could).

Ahh well that would explain it. Thanks Martini.

But I still stand by my opinion that we won’t see it at the Oscars.

Oh, yeah, that’s agreeable, but we can’t know for sure, or can we, are the short film nominees up somewhere?

Not that I have seen, but I suspect the short isn’t finished yet, as it would have had to been displayed before September last year. And I think we should have heard if it had.
