This is not the same two-pack that was released last year when the DVD was first issued. That bonus disc was just music videos and such. This new version has almost everything that the Blu-Ray disc has, right down to the Cine-Explore feature according to the packaging. My co-worker bought it so I’ll see if I can borrow his bonus disc and give a more detailed report.
Of course this stinks for those of us who’ve already purchased the movie because we’ll have to buy it all over again if we want the bonus materials. Hopefully they’ll do something like this for Ratatouille too, but right off the bat rather than waiting another year.
Ok here’s the scoop, and it’s a little disappointing. The packaging on the bonus disc states that the disc includes “New Car Finder Experience, Cine-Explore Ultimate Behind the Scenes Look, and Memory Lane Feature Hosted by John Lasseter.” While true to an extent, it’s definitely misleading.
The Car Finder feature is little more than an advertisement for the Blu-Ray disc feature and has a sample version of the game. The Cine-Explore is just more of the same with excerpts from the two commentary tracks. Basically, Cine-Explore is just a glorified commentary feature. You have two tracks with a capability to instantly switch between the two while also having the option of view various bits of production art simultaneously. The Memory Lane feature is something worth watching and gives a little more insight into the inspiration behind the movie and runs just under 35 minutes.
To make a long story short, it’s worth getting if you’re a die-hard fan of the movie and/or Pixar but it will make you wish you had a Blu-Ray player even more.
If anyone gets the blu-ray disc, can you post on this board the character bios for Boost and Wingo? They have DJ and Snot Rod on the Wal-mart disc…and, by the way, DJ’s real name is Devon Montgomery Johnston the Third…(snort)…naw it’s a cool name.
Whoa! That’s cool! Could someone post everything on that disc somehwere on the Internet so we all can see it ( and not have to give Disney more money? )?
Man, I so wish I could have that dvd!! But it’s not available in my country and if I got if from the US I couldn’t view it anyway cause it’s a different region .
No, unfortunately it also applies for dvd . I’m in region 2 while the US is region 1 if I remember correctly. Try and look on the back of one of your dvd covers, there is a globe with a number on it.
Is this dvd still available? Cause I have just found out that we have a regionfree dvd player in our house so I will be able to watch this dvd after all!! It actually already was in our house when I first posted in this thread, I just had no idea it was regionfree (if that is what it’s called in English) cause it’s a handdown from some family.
Have anybody have Cars Blu-ray yet? I serious thinking about picking me up a ps3 now that the prices are going down. I just wanted to know what on it before i go pay 300-400 dollars on the ps3.
