Of the 3 TS films, which 2 films are your fave ones and why?

Of the 3 Toy Story films made so far, which 2 films are your favorite ones and please separately say why, for each fave TS film.

2 & 3.

2, because it has personal significance to me, and because i feel it surpassed the original despite 1’s greatness.

3, because i waited so long for it, it was so incredible, and again, a lot of personal significance for me (e.g. it came out 3 days after i got my driver’s license so i got to drive my friends & myself to and from the theatre, something i looked forward to for a long time). plus, it had one of the most perfect conclusions to a film series EVER while still leaving room for some sort of continuation if pixar ever chooses to do so.

i love #1, it’s just there’s a couple things about the others that make me love the slightly more.

Toy Story - Just the thrill of seeing this for the first time, and how cool it was. All the banter and memorable dialogue between Buzz & Woody. (“The word I’m searching for…” / “You are a sad, strange little man…” / the “falling with style” line and eventual payoff, and on and on…) Sid and the Mutant Toys, who ended up being some of my favorite characters. The whole “cause-and-effect” plot, where one twist leads to another and things just keep escalating. The awesome shot/lighting/animation when you see Woody get the idea of knocking Buzz behind the desk. The way this still holds up brilliantly after 15 years because the story and characters are so strong and appealing.

Toy Story 3 - (Spoilers galore, so…)

The brilliant, epic opening scene, and how it all ties back to the opening of the original (especially hearing Potato Head and Woody do the “force-field dog”/“dinosaur” exchange). The Jessie and Buzz romance. The “OMG, I can’t believe Pixar is doing this!” intensity of the hand-holding scene. BONNIE, who is one of my new favorite characters, and her toys, who are all so clearly and appealingly drawn within such limited screen time. Lotso’s story arc, especially since I was so certain he’d be “nice” by the end of the movie because he’s THE TS3 meet-and-greet at WDW and surely they wouldn’t do that unless the kids were going to end up wanting to hug and love on him! Ken (who I knew would be fun). Mr. Tortilla Head (a brilliant gag I had no idea was coming). Most of all, the perfect, perfect final scene with Andy and Bonnie. Mark my words, there is going to be serious Oscar talk for this - and it’s all going to be thanks to the hand-holding and that final scene.

2&3.

2, well, I liked the new characters more, I enjoy watching Buzz in his non-deluded personality, and I thought the story had more significance for normal toy owners. The theme of toys worrying about getting abandoned is a little…I don’t know, deeper than just new toys coming along.

3, because of how dark and intense it was, yet it still stayed so funny, the amazingly lovable characters, and the strawberry scented but quite freaky villain. The emotional significance of the movie is endless, and the joy of seeing all these characters again after all these years and going on one more adventure (not counting the short)
