Disney has a great new clip up that shows Buzz getting reset into Spanish mode. It also confirms that there will be subtitles in the final movie.

I can’t stop smiling. As much as I want to watch it again and again and again and again I’ll settle for the once and not spoil myself too much haha.
I love the stuff that was missing from the trailer in this overused clip, between Rex pushing the button and Buzz resetting. Hilarious. And Woody is so appalled, his face is priceless. <3
[spoil]So I guess we’re going to see three different modes of Buzz in Toy Story 3: Enlightened, Evil and Spanish. I can’t wait to see how Lotso and his minions are able to brainwash Buzz into working for them, do they also hit his reset button as well?[/spoil] I loved that clip!

Anyone else not really a fan of this? I mean, subtitles make sense when there are are other characters in the room who speak the language, but as a viewer we should be just as confused as Woody and such. (unless you happen to speak Spanish that is)

Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing too. I guess it means that Spanish Buzz is going to more than just a [spoil]throwaway joke and more like a major plot point of the film.[/spoil] I have mixed feelings of the subtitles, as on the one hand if they didn’t have them PIXAR would be able to have more subtle jokes aimed for Spanish speakers, which we might only be able to catch after multiple showings or so. On the other hand, now that we are given subtitles, its kind of reassuring to the audience to be able to know more about Buzz than even the other toys do.
Either way, subtitle or not, I would have seen the film with some native spanish speakers, who could translate Buzz for me.

I’m very worried.
I doubt the stupid movie theaters in my country will release the movie in original language (yes, they are that stupid), and so all theaters will have it in spanish dub.
What I fear the most is that I don’t think the movie will work if it’s in spanish, because then the scenes with spanish Buzz won’t make any sense.

You’re worried because they’ll have the spanish parts be spanish in your country? There will be subtitles, etc. Pixar goes all out for other countries, check the link above.

I live in a spanish speaking country. So all the movie will be in Spanish! There won’t be any difference between the two states of Buzz!
the Spanish version of the movie makes Spanish buzz french. at least they did in the trailers.

Nope, at least in Spain, Buzz speak spanish too. But with a very strong accent fron Andalucia (where flamenco comes) and believe me, That´s could be like another language… specially with pronunciation and vocabulary.
