"Oh, you had to bring that up!"

In TS2, Buzz reminds the other toys of when they threw Woody out of the moving van, to which Mr. Potato Head replies “Oh, you had to bring that up!”. Do you think he said that because he was embarrassed by it, or because he doesn’t feel sorry and just didn’t want to hear about it?

I always thought he was embarrassed about it, especially with how he seemed to hide his face when he said it.

He feels bad about it. Thought that was quite obvious no offense.

The expression on his face makes me feel that he said it because he was embarrassed and felt bad about it.

I got the impression that he was embarressed by that memory!

Well, Mr. Potato Head has come a long way since Toy Story, so I don’t blame you. Though, it was embarrasment, as the minute he realized he’d falsely accused Woody, he wanted to help. But I guess he still feels bad about initially throwing him out of the moving truck.

In the TS2 commentary, they said Potato Head was still guilty about doing that to Woody

I think Potato Head definitely regrets throwing Woody off the truck. He now realizes Woody was telling the truth the entire time, and he probably is embarrased.

Yup, he’s softened a lot with his wife coming in, and he obviously regretted it.

It wasn’t obvious to me, because Mr. Potato Head is prone to sarcasm and sometimes I have a hard time gauging between sincerity and sarcasm.

It’s okay, WBB. I have trouble with serious vs. joke too, due to social skills.

I think he felt dumb for being wrong about Woody, though. That’s how I took it.

Yeah, he felt bad.

My thoughts exactly.
