A very epic anime (In japan) In the states, a dud. One Piece went thru a lot here in America (being dubbed by 4kids) then eventually saved by Funimation just to be cancelled. The only thing we One Piece fans have are the uncut DVD’s.
Any fans out there??
I started watching it (non-edited sub) and enjoyed it but stopped after about 20 episodes because I found out there was about 400 episodes. I’m not willing to invest that much time in a series. Part of the reason I enjoy anime is that most series are 26 episodes and have a well paced story arc and conclusion.
I’m slowly reading my way through the Manga, along with Bleach and Black Cat and some others.
But I don’t really watch the anime versions, the changes to the plot and reams of filler don’t appeal to me. And most Wester dubs are, uh, not that great…
I haven’t really ever watched it, but if there’s one thing I love about it, it’s the theme tune. It just makes me laugh every time. And once the theme tune is over, I turn over and watch something else. 
ech, the 4kids opening theme was terrible. As much as I like OP, I hope they end it soon so it doesnt turn out like DBZ being like 600 episodes.
Bleh, i hate anime.
Im really not into anime myself, just One Piece and DBZ. I don’t how big of a fan I consider myself because I never have time to read the manga.

I LOVE this series. I’m so glad Funimation took over and fixed the American dub up, and VIZ is speeding up the manga to get caught up with Japan to boot! This is a great time to be a One Piece fan here in the states.
Favorite characters, anyone? I adore Chopper. I got outcast a lot as a kid and his story really hits home for me, plus he’s so cute! :3
I’ve just about caught up to date with the manga, over 550 chapters takes a while to get through! It’s amazing that this was first published over 10 years ago…
Anyway it’s a very good story and it shows emotion much better than most shonen series, in fact it’s probably the only manga series which has ever made me tear up…
As for favourite characters I’d probably say Sanji…
I think Cartoon Network showed the real stuff. And yes, I loved it very much.
CN showed the better dub towards the end of its TV Air. It had 4kids for a little first.
