I don’t understand how Operation Recolonize works. What I just don’t get is why there are EVE probes. I understand their functions, but why were they made? Why do the starliners have to search for plant life once a year during the five-year cruise when the cruise was five years long and there were still humans on Earth? Why do they have to search for life when life was still there?
maybe there was an A112, to say plant life has died, build these EVE probes, or maybe they knew it was dying anyway?
I think that the EVE probes were more of a “Plan B,” should Project Cleanup fail.
Of course, CEO Forthright must have forgotten about it in his rush to leave, when he pooched the deal by issuing Directive A113.
I would say that the Eve probes were probably made to make the captain think they were trying to go back to earth. That way he wouldn’t become suspicious of A113.
I figured that the BnL execs knew it was going to be a failure anyways. So they planned in the long term and that life was collapsing and going to continue to collapse more and everything of visible size on land was going to become extinct. They wanted to come back to earth and only a robust probe could find the plant.
Presumably, since there were still some humans left, there would have been some plants too, but they were rapidly dying out, within a matter of years.
