Ratatouille will be nominated for Animated Feature, Original Screenplay, Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing. It will win Animated Feature, no doubt about it. I see it getting nominated for screenplay because other Pixar movies (Toy Story, Nemo, Incredibles) have received that nod. I see it getting score because everyone knows that Michael Giacchino got snubbed a nod for The Incredibles’ score, and I see it getting a sound category because Pixar films almost always get nominated for sound.
I 99% doubt that this film will get nominated for Best Picture, although I would agree it deserves it.
Better story than what?
Surf’s Up has no chance simply for the fact the Academy wouldn’t dare give it to two penguin films in a row. It was also be the 3rd consecutive year in which a Penguin film won in some fassion.
In my opinion, Shrek the Third has no chance against Ratatouille. I mean, it was funny and all, but come on. What animated movie this year can match up to the powerful, heart-touching, hilarious movie of Ratatouille?
Yeah, Surf’s Up probably won’t take the cake. Although, I have to admit that it was a fantastic film and is deserving of some award, be it major or minor.
The Star Swordsman - Amen to that! ![]()
Well, there’s always the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature.
I think Cars was a better story than Ratatouille.

Check this out people!
AwardsDaily.com, formerly OscarWatch.com and simply the best Academy Awards Blog on the net, calls Ratatouille “the first true Oscar contender of the year.” And they’re not talking Best Animated Feature. They’re talking BEST PICTURE. We’re six months into the year, that’s great news!
Two articles from
Oh my! This is wonderful news! It doesn’t surprise me that this movie was the best of the year so far, but the fact that it might go up as Best Picture really took me by surprise. Nice piece of news right there. thanks TheIncredible
Whoa! BEST PICTURE!? That’s awesome!
Maybe my family will stop telling me I’m crasy for loving this film, then! ![]()
TheIncredible - That…is…awesome! Fantastic; superb; magnifique!! I hope it wins!!! Oh gosh, I hope it wins… ![]()
Thanks for the information, dude! ![]()
That is spectacular news! I’m with Mitch on this, I hope it wins. The Academy is finally seeing the potential of animated features. ![]()
I will be happy if it wins anything.
The Academy is finally seeing the potential of animated features.
Yeah, it’s about time! It would be just Pixar’s luck if Ratatouille won the Best Picture award; however, the chances of it winning seem to be pretty high so far. I wouldn’t be at all suprised if it took the cake…
The Star Swordsman - Haha. Yeah, me too. ![]()
BUt I think this has been said on a Radio Pixar Podcast before. Since we already have a Best Animated Feature category, (quote from Dash, or TL) “Does the Best Animated Feature category rob (Ratatoille’s) chance of winning Best Picture?”
The Star Swordsman - It could, but I’m not entirely sure. Numerous films have won several awards in one sitting before, so it’s not unheard of…
BEST PICTURE???
It has got to win!!!
Whoa, whoa, whoa - chill folks.
Nobody at the Academy is talking Best Picture (currently) this was just one critic’s opinion much like my own rant that Peter O’Toole should be nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
It would be wonderful if it was considered, but realistically the Best Animated Feature category knocks it out of the running.
