This is a thread where you can post things you thought of that can make the movie better or just things you wished happened.
The other day I had a great idea myself. At the end of the movie when the camera goes up to the clouds (throwback to the first movie) I think “You got a freind in me” should have picked up where it ended off in the begining of the movie from “our freidnship will never die” and finished off the film. It would have ended the movie on a more nostolgic note as well as showing good times once again
As I’ve pointed out in the soundtrack topic, I would have liked [spoil]the theme played when Buzz and Woody fly and when they escape the airplane to return in the third one when they toys are saved from the incinerator. Admittedly, I’m not sure it would fit with the intensity of the scene, but it would have been nice to have the same theme play at the end of the climax in all three movies.[/spoil]
I also wouldn’t have minded some sort of give-away in the third one that the [spoil]garbage man was Sid. That way, when Woody spots him at the end of the film he could say “Thank You, Sid!” just as he did in the first film because, once again, Sid is inadvertently providing a way for the toys to get back to Andy.[/spoil]
I wouldn’t have minded an appearance of some sort for Al and/or Al’s Toy Barn, but that’s mostly because I find Al to be so funny.
Its relevant in that we have now gone through a whole trilogy and still not so much as on screen mention of him. they could have easily put in a throw away line that Woody was given to Andy by his father, and thats part of why Woody means so much to him.
[spoil]I would have liked to see lotso burn in the incinerator.[/spoil] but pixar/disney wouldn’t have the guts to do that in a G rated movie I don’t think.
But in my mind it resembles Anakin burning in mustafar . haha
but then we’d have to worry about Darth Lotso…maybe that’s not the best idea. then we’d be expecting Toy Story: episode VI: Revenge of the Stitch or something.
EDIT- Please add spoiler tags to potential spoilers, thanks!
Well you have to consider the fact that Disney films always have parental issues. Pick out a random disney film besides say the Incredibles and Peter Pan. Every single Disney film except those two and maybe a couple others I’m forgetting portrays the Characters as having only one parent, or one of them dying, or no parents at all.
Dumbo - One Parent
Tarzan - Parents Dead
Lion King - Dad dies
Bambi - Mom dies
It goes on and on.
The whole one parent thing doesn’t even surprise me and doesn’t bug me, because by now it’s just expected to be like that. Wonder what’s up with Disney
Before seeing the movie, I really wanted that the credits weren’t bloopers as in the second, but a closure to the stories of the characters. Luckily, that was what was made.
But I wanted to see what happened to old characters form the series, like the mutant toys, Al, Zurg and the other Buzz, Stinky Pete, and maybe Bo and the rest of Andy’s toys that didn’t make it into the third one.
At least [spoil]Zurg appeared[/spoil]. That made me happy.
Well, it wasn’t really intentional here. They just left out Andy’s dad in the first Toy Story as a shortcut to have one less male to animate. All we’ve heard of Andy’s father is from outside sources, and just a little explanation would clue us in a little.
I loved the music score for the last piece, where [spoil]they’re playing with the toys[/spoil], but I kind of wished I could hear the dialogue more. I could barely make out what Andy was saying -Omar
I feel the movie should’ve spent more time with the toys at Bonnie’s house, but I suppose we’ll get that in the upcoming Toy Story short. I also thought that [spoil]Lotso should’ve died[/spoil].
I think part of the “You are a Toy” speech could’ve returned, like Lotso says something about being only a child’s play thing before becoming junk or something
A third time? really? seems like a bit much after already reusing the line in TS2. I loved it there, it was a great reversal, but to do it again would feel forced. to be honest I felt like the first use of the “infinity and beyond” line from Woody in TS3 felt a bit forced too. Same with the legs shot mentioned on the last page.
These things are great but if you overuse them they loose all meaning.
I was surprised about the infinity and beyond thing too…but I guess maybe it became something that they constantly said over the years. But I thought it would be interesting because instead of it being between Buzz and Woody it was from Lotso in a more negative connotation, like “We’re just little child’s playthings at best, before we become JUNK! Waitin’ to be thrown away! That’s all a toy is!”
