Should Pixar bring in more outside talent in major roles
behind the scenes?
- Yes! Can’t have too much of a good thing
- No! Pixar’s Great as it is, outsiders would only ruin a good thing
- Maybe, depening on a project by project basis
I’m all for that! Just by watching some of the interviews
and commentaries on Pixar DVDs, there’s a number of people who are already at Pixar who I think would make great
feature directors. Names like Ralph Eggleston, Mark Andrews and Lee Unkrich (who I’m happy to see is directing
Toy Story 3 on his own) in the director’s chair. I really would have loved to see either Joe Ranft or Glenn
McQueen direct a feature, but sadly it has to be something that I can never see.
I think that it should be based on a project-by-project thing. I kinda see them as being a
close group and it wouldnt be weird to have all kinds of outsiders getting involved. It wouldnt seem as Pixar-y
to me then anyway.

You guys make a good point. I’ve
partly changed my mind. It would depend on the story of the film and if the director fits that paticular
film.
I’ve been thinking. Since Robert Zemeckis has recently joined Disney (he and Dick Cook made a deal
to create a MoCap subsidary of Disney, which will produce MoCap films I believe. Zemeckis is suspected to direct
some of the projects) , how about him as a new Pixar director?
