Hey
guys, it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to post, I’ve been really busy. But I FINALLY got to see the
amazing Pan’s Labyrinth last night and thought it might be an interesting topic for discussion.
First,
what did you think of the more ‘mature’ fairytale idea? Let’s say, in contrast to the typical Disney princess
story?
I’d also be interested in hearing how you interpreted the ending. Was it all a fantasy, or
completely real?
Sorry if a post has been made about this film before, but I didn’t see it and I’m sure
it’s died by now, so I see no harm in another.
All in all, if you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest you
do. It is rated R and for good reason, so know that. However it’s an amazing work of art with beautiful design
in craftmanship, story and heart and those who choose not to see it are truely missing out.

Oh, I saw this movie a month ago. I must say that it is
one of the greatest movies ever. it is so nice. kinda gruesome, but it is a powerful movie. I really hate the bad
guy, but I love the main girl.

I did hear that it was a very
beautifully crafted film – very clever in it’s overall premise, composition, and character construction. I
really should get around to seeing it one of these days, especially now that I can see ‘R’-rated films…

I loooove this film. It’s dark, kinda scary, but
it’s amazing.
It’s made me want to watch more foreign films. xD
My only complaint is I was often
distracted by whoever was on screen, and further into the film I often forgot to read the subtitles
I
made 2 music videos for this film, I loved it so much.

Saw it a few weeks ago. I had wanted to see
it for a long time ago, but it was hard to get out during the school year. And I love watching foreign films in
the theatre.
I liked it, but wasn’t prepared when the story got so dark. I don’t mind dark storytelling,
but it’s been a while since I’ve seen a dark fantasy. And I love love LOVE the faun’s design. So beautiful.
That movie had an aura of magic around it, if you catch my meaning. One of those high fantasy stories that make
you wonder if such things could really happen.
And I’m not ashamed to say it: the pale man scared the bajebez
out of me. Seriously, I thought that thing was going to haunt my dreams.
Haunt: The Pale Man scared me too! And when he chased her it sounded like a mixture
of babies screaming.
My dad’s more scared of it than I am, even though the dude reminded me a bit of my
dad.

Oooh, man did this movie rule! I’m not good with
gross things so I kept closing my eyes during the violent/yucky scenes, but I really did enjoy Pan’s Labyrinth.
Such a lovely story, and I like folk tales in film done in such a good way as this. I reaaaaaaally liked the
Faun! He was gorgeous! Sad ending, but it may appear to be a happy one to others… it really depends on what you
believe from the story.
That’s what I liked about it.
I’ve been wanting to see this movie for ages, now…I
gotta go get it!
WHat really surprises me with this movie is that it has
won so many Oscar Awards. I think it was the foreign film that won the most. BUt it didn’t take "Best
Foriegn Film." Why? How can that be possible?

Actually a bit teed off.
Once purchased it since it seemed to have a great story and animation…but
there was NO english audio.
I appreciate the way that keeping a movie in it’s theatrical release
representation, such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is good and all…but if a movie is being released in
America, it’s not that difficult to add in English Audio.
CTHD had english audio when it came out, but, from
the whole store of Walmart I looked over, Pan’s didn’t.
Sean: Really? Man, I was hoping they’d put in
English audio on the DVD, just because it would be easier to focus on who’s speaking rather than reading what
they have to say.

True that.
What makes it annoying is that, when you buy a movie, you ok…may
look for commentary, but you don’t instinctively think “check the languages”. And then you buy it, go
home, play it, only to realize you have to keep looking at the bottom of the screen for subtitles. with no
options.
Honestly…

Honestly FONY, I don’t think that there is a need for english audio. The story is so
marvelous and you become so into it, you forget that it is a foriegn film.

The point is
NOT that it ruins the experience. From the visuals I’ve seen it looks terrific. But the SHOULD have English
Audio because it was released IN AMERICA…
I mean when a person who buys it for the family for like 15-20
bucks, and they sit down and watch, they all have to squint their eyes to look at the text to now what’s going
on.
If it’s gonna be released in America, give it an audio. I mean it’s not like everyone is fluent in
Spanish.
But
usually, if a movie is dubbed, then the acting wouldn’t have the power and passion as it did with the origial
actors and their language. I don’t like it when movies become dubbed. The voice-overs do it so bad.

Same. I am very happy they kept it in the original language. Although, on the DVD,
they should have an english dub for those who cannot keep up with subtitles. I have no idea if the DVD has
it.
What i really love
about this is that the people who made it went completely all out on this movie. I can tell because of the
quality of this film, the effects, the story, the acting, everything was like, WOW!!!

All I’m saying is it’s no harm in putting English
dubbing options for a movie released in the U.S. Some people prefer it. And it’s not gonna hurt people who want
the originally made one either.
