PC or Mac?

Mac Mini

True, if you do think Macs are really that expensive, you could go for a Mac mini and just buy a cheap monitor. But in my opinion, it’s worth every penny for what you get. Not just saying that because I went with the pricier option and got a Mac Pro.

But with a machine like this, it will last for a good 4 - 6 years. I mean, you can upgrade the memory, get a new graphic chip in there, buy some new hard drives (up to 4TB :open_mouth:) , etc. It is well worth it in the long run.

I don’t mean to sound offensive to PC users or anyone that likes Windows, but I just had to add this quote I found:
“Computers are just like air conditioners. Everything works until you open up Windows.”

I have to say: PC all the way. Yes, I’ve tried macs before - my family’s computer was recently converted to the Apple company. We have an iMac right now - and I’m on an iBook G4 that was updated with Leopard, but I never got into them. Sure, they’re super-fast and don’t get many viruses, but on the old versions of macs - iBooks, for example - you cannot get image editing programs such as GIMP to work and old computer games we bought when we had a PC don’t work on macs at all. Plus, everything that I see is specially formatted to work on a PC and not a mac so the mac version is delayed - i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Maybe I’m just more used to PCs. At my school, library, and home, the majority of computers - if not all with the exception of my family iMac and the borrowed iBook I’m using - have been PCs. I know how they work, I can navigate them, and I love them for what they are. Vista, XP, 2000, 98, and 95. I’ve experienced them all and I love them more than Leopard. Maybe it’s just personal opinion or experience, but PC is my choice.

I have a friend who has used macs all her life. She loves them and calls me crazy for being under the “PC spell”. She says that I’ve been blinded by experience and what I’m used to. She said I “obviously haven’t been using a mac for very long”. Trust me, I’ve experienced Macs all my life and eventually, they lose their charm.

In a world without walls and fences, who needs windows and gates?

But there are walls and fences…

Mac OSX is based on open source software, no boundaries to what you can do. Metaphor!

Based on but is not itself. I’m just wary of the cult of mac.

It’s based on BSD, which is in turn based on UNIX. It has a lot of closed source software around it, but you can still get to the core thru terminal.

I so used to pc computers, their easier to work at. I tried using Mac in one of my older classes i took, and It’s definately different then PC. I’ll gland stick with my pc where I know everyhting works.

I’ve had Macs all my life. I find Pc’s kinda confusing.

Eve was invented by MAC. so I think I would choose MAC. the way of the future.

windoze vista is a flop. If they don’y COMPLETELY rewrite the windoze kernel by windows 7, I’m ditching winows and bacomeic a MacUser.

Ugh, I had to use PCs in high school. Now, being a mac user for most of my life, I found it confusing. Luckily, the teacher made it mandatory for us to take some “Operating System Lessons.” It just gave a basic overview of how the system works. (We were using Windows XP which, in my opinion, is the most stable of them all.)

Anyway, even with those courses, just getting to where you needed to go seemed like it took a lot of unnecessary steps. Mac’s interface is just so much more clearer and straight forward. I mean, if an application freezes, force quit it, no problem. If a program freezes on Windows, a restart usually was always required. (At least on the computers we were using.)

Set up is simple on a Mac. Upon first boot, it will take you right into Leopard, or transfer your files from a previous mac. The dock is just purely awesome. Any application is readily accessible. I realize that with Windows, you are able to create shortcuts and such, but why have millions of icons filling your desktop?

Everything I’ve stated is purely my decision. I mean, Leopard is just so creative and new, and best of all - stable! I can’t wait for Snow Leopard which will decrease the amount of memory and space the operating system itself takes up. I’ve been a mac user for a long time, and I have to say it’s a great computer. Everything is so simple and easy. It’s safe to say that I’ll probably always prefer macs to pcs. PCs just feel kinda… obsolete. Mac’s are so polished… everything is nice and rounded and overall, it really makes the system with all those little details.

I’m not putting down pc users, just giving my opinions based on my experience with Windows.

Lol If we had no computer, how could we answer?

No, I have a PC!
