Performing

I found most of us on this board love to

perform. What I mean by performing is acting/singing/dancing/directing/etc. What do you like to do? And share any

and all experiences.

When I was in middle school, I was on the dance team. It wasn’t as glamorous as being

a cheerleader, but it kept me involved with other kids. Now that I think about it, we were lame. LOL

The

only dancing I do these days is all around my house when I’m home alone.

My mom was always trying to

convince me to join a drama club because I can recite entire episodes of The Simpsons and Seinfeld. :unamused: But

I wasn’t bold enough back then.

I wanna be an artist for a living, but my secret dream (well, no secret

really now, is it?) is to do voice acting on the side.

~~=oP

I’m in drama, but I’m not very comfortable with performing infront of people. XD I’m

actually getting into video, where we make short videos in class and such. Technically I get to act then, too,

but I also get to film/create stories.

I’m not a performer at heart- I get so jealous of those that can sit and play a beautiful

piano piece in front of hundreds of people and not suffer from nerves at all.

I love to

perform. I dance, act and sing at the local theatre, and I can play the clarinet and concertina. I hope to become

a professional actress one day.

Hehe, I don’t think such a person exists. Everybody I

know in my faculty gets nervous before performing, it just depends on how well you can hide it.

I’ve been

performing on the piano ever since I was six… in concerts and competitions. I’ve always had problems with

getting nervous (sometimes throwing up) but it’s the way my body is so I deal with it. Also, since I’ve started

university, I’ve been in choir, performing many different pieces. I have a performance tomorrow, and in

November, we’ll be working on Mozart’s Requiem. I’m really excited for that.

Aggie- Okay, I’ll be more specific- I get so jealous of my friend, Helena, who can

sit and play a beautiful piano piece in front of hundreds and not suffer from nerves at all. She just sits

there, playing, looking as happy as anything, and when I ask her if she felt nervous, she gives me this sort of

WTF look. Though yeah, I’m sure most people do suffer nerves before a performance- I know I do! I guess

different people show it in different ways.

For me, performing has been a regular for me.

It started as far back as 5 yrs old, being in plenty of piano recitals and I think some competitons. I went to a

performing arts school through middle school where I picked up two more instruments. We performed at special

occasions and even a select group got to perform at Radio City. Right now, it’s band n basketball.

I have been

performing since I was in fourth grade. I am an actor, singer, and a dancer. I am actively involved in my school

choir and drama. I am a thespian as well. My dream is to make it big in either singing or acting.

I play marimba… and I perform for that although I have yet to feel the "Woah, this is

it" feeling from just like… half time shows. This time however I am in the Percussion Ensemble… this

means we are going to the World Percussion Competition… pretty intense.

I also like acting, but I

don’t do it… officially or anything. I’m a decent public speaker so it’s something I’m natural at… but I

don’t expand on it. Heh.

Mmm…I’m not really a performer and heart, unfortunately. However, when we get in the mood,

my sister and I will recite entire movies by heart, including every Pixar film and almost every Disney movie out

there. Other than that, I’m a lame brain when it comes to performing. :unamused:

The

theatre is my life. Well, maybe not quite yet, but from college and beyond it most

certainly will be. After this year’s senior class graduates, I’m going to be the most devoted theatre kid in

the school hand’s down. Which is kind of sad, really, because it means the school theatre program is going to

shrink a ton.

But, anyways, yeah, I am in love with all aspects of the theatre and would love nothing

more than to be involved with it all my life. (And all my science teachers that I ever had sigh and think about

what a waste my life has suddenly become. :unamused:) I got cast in my first lead role in a school play just the

other day, too; I’m super-excited! I’m playing George, the lead in The Actor’s

Nightmare, one of our winter one-act plays, which I knew I wanted to be in the moment I saw the

title. It just looked like it was going to be something that would be incredibly fun from an acting standpoint,

and after reading in auditions it most certainly is. I’m really looking forward to that starting.

I’m probably going to get into directing in a year or two, also. My theatre teacher at school has a

directing class for juniors and seniors, so I’m planning on doing that either next year or senior year; he also

has a solo performance class, so I need to decide which I want to do junior year and which I want to do senior

year. I might even direct one of the winter one-acts when I’m a senior; last year one of the then-seniors did.

Pretty much the only thing I’m not all that interested in doing is being a techie, although I’m probably going

to end up having to help out with that, too, at least a little, as more and more kids graduate.

DElf4242:

Wow – that’s awesome! I hope you succeed in achieving your life-long goal(s).

DElf4242: Can I ask you a question? Ar you a member of the International Thespian

Society?

Not yet, but I expect to be soon. I

didn’t really start acting seriously until last school year, and I was only in one production last year, opting

to spend the rest of the year taking acting classes (which I will never regret ), but I was inducted into the

school theatre group after being in only one performance, as opposed to the usual two, so I think that I got a

fair amount of “points” towards being inducted into the ITS. I’ve noticed that most of the people at

my school don’t become members until junior or senior year, although I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch

to say that I have a possibility of getting in this year. Not to sound too head-strong or anything, but I’m

just saying that looking at it realistically, I wouldn’t be surprised, since soon enough I more or less will

be the school theatre group… :unamused:

Hi! My name is Brandon Neeld and I proudly represent Troupe

6159!

hehe - I was President in 2003-04 and represented my troupe at States in 2002. I could have gone in

2004 for my “Excellent” on “Confrontation” from Jekyll and Hyde

(fell one point shy of a “Superior”) but I stepped aside to let another senior go. She went on to get

a “Superior” at States so I was satisfied. My big accomplishments were on stage and behind the scenes

anyway. I worked hard to develop the club. Performance wise though my credits include…

Caspar in

“Amahl and Night Visitors”
Mr. Webb in “Our Town”
Schroder in "You’re a Good Man

Charlie Brown"
Pops in “The Pajama Game”
Teddy in “Arscenic and Old Lace”
Uncle

Max in “The Sound of Music”
Roy Hubley in “Plazza Suite”

I’ve also had bit roles

in “The Music Man,” “Godspell,” and several other performances that it’s been so long I

really can’t remember.

I’ve sung in various chiors throughout my life and will likely be joining yet

another one soon.

I have a number of awards including…
Second Place 1996 FLOCS Music Festival,
The

First Anual Julia P. Springston Award for Achievement in the Arts (The highest award for the arts given at Bishop

Verot High School),
and numerous awards through ITS competition.

I also spent a stint as a TV

weatherman for a highschool audience.

My crowning achievement however was the role of Kurt in a

professional production of The Sound of Music off broadway. The show ran for about

2 months and 60 performances.

hehe - of course I suppose I should now add host of Radio Pixar to this

list. =P

I say we get you to sing

next episode. :smiling_imp:

Or, better yet, sing as Edna. That’d be a sight to

see. A sound to hear. Whatever.

8D Oh, Dash could pull it off with practice. Heck, he

probably doesn’t need it.

I wonder how well Brad Bird can sing.

~~=oP

Dash: Dash, incredible work. Those are indeed quite great acomplishments. I bow to

thee.

Dash: Oooh, there’s a real performer in you,

isn’t there? No wonder you’re so entertaining in Radio Pixar. :stuck_out_tongue:
