Saw this a week ago and really enjoyed it. Good and interesting story and some funny uses of the animation. Worthy of its nomination for Best Animated Feature but I still think Ratatouille is a bit better.
This movie should be expanded to more theaters soon, but with an Enlgish dubbing in place. I highly recommend that you find a theater that carries this before the original French language track is gotten rid of.
I really want to see it simply because it’s 2D … okay, and also a lot of people are buzzing about it. I’ll try and sneak a peek in when I go to see Spiderwick Monday.
Guh, I hate when things are dubbed. Totally wrecks a movie for me sometimes. I’ll have to go look for it. Hoepfully I’ll see it in a few weeks during spring break.
Last night, Persepolis won two Césars (French equivalents of the Academy Awards) : Award for Best Debut and Best Adapted Screenplay.
It was also nominated but did not win for Best Score, Best Editing, Best Sound and Best Film (there’s no animation category).
Excellent adaptation of the graphic novel. Stylistically interesting and really enjoyable approach to animation. Great story too. I agree with Haunt that English dubbing would be disastrous.
