Hello !
First post here (I read the blog for a year now) to talk about a thing that bothers me : I don’t understand why Disney has censored the scene when Eve scans “Hello Dolly” and a message “pirate copy” appears… (and why we were able to see this scene on internet, and delete it after, in the movie ?)
Why do you think about that ?

I answered this in the UP comments but I’ll post it here again. That was digitally added in by Disney as an ad campaign for countries that are known for heavy pirating. It was never in the actual film, there was no cesnsorship here. 
I never saw that bit anywhere. Strange. The UK must have low piracy.

If someone finds this scene on internet I’m really interested, Google isn’t my friend for this one 
The only similar thing I can think of that we had showing here was the same sort of thing that they had for Ratatouille last year, about being a ‘Knock Off Nigel’. It has EVE scanning a video of Ratatouille, I think it was, and on the screen it says, ‘Source: Knock Off’.
I think it’s just basically to warn people of pirate copies and not to buy them, as opposed to being an actual scene from the film.

I’ve searched far and wide through the internet for a video of the Knock-Off Nigel thing, but I couldn’t find it anywhere- just lots of articles saying how ironic and silly it is.

Thanks for the link, Mitch, but we’re actually referring to the WALL-E version of the same thing. In the clip, WALL-E puts in a video of Ratatouille into the little TV he has, and it starts to play.
Everyone’s been saying, well, if the cinemas are going to moan at us for buying these knock-off DVDs, why don’t they just lower the cinema prices? It’s so extortionate just to go to the cinema, let alone to actually buy any food there! Seriously, there’s a ‘Candy King’ sweets section in our local cinema, and it’s like £1.10 per 100 grams, whilst there’s the exact same ‘Candy King’ sweets section in a shop in town and it’s half the price!
Anyway, back on topic… Thanks for the link though, Mitch. I hadn’t seen the Ratatouille one for ages!
The great thing is copyright law is broken several times during Wall-E OK, so 700 years in the future Hello Dolly is probably in the public domain, but with copyright law being extended again and again that’s not a guarantee in this reality.

I searched for that WALL•E “Pirate Scene” on YouTube, but was unable to locate it. I wonder what happened to it?

Anyone else find the clip a bit ironic? They’re basically telling you not to steal movies, but then they show the scene where Remy steals food for Emile.
Are you kidding me, You’ll always see Chinese people(no offence) selling pirate DVDs to people in London. They even go inside fast-food restaurant, trying to sell the items. You gotta feel sad for them because you know that gangs are hiring these immigrants who trying to make a living and not do anything bad.

The video wich I’m actually referring to is the exact same scene as the movie’s one, with “Hello Dolly”, not Ratatouille !
Uh, and by the way, what is the meaning of “knock off nigels” ? Apparently it’s an expression to designate some guys who don’t pay their beers in a pub, but what “nigels” is ?

That’s the one, Walleuse! Except it’s obviously in English. And being a ‘Knock Off Nigel’ is some weird thing they’ve made up about pirated DVDs. I don’t really get it myself, but the whole tagline is, ‘don’t be a knock off Nigel’. They’ve used it for loads of different movies, and it’s starting to get irritating.
