Gasduude - Exactly.

I agree with you both, and I know this sounds harsh but if [spoil]Keira Knightly had been replaced by an actress who were actually good at acting, then perhaps her character might have just been able to pull off the whole leading the pirates thing. With such weak acting, even though she looked the part, Keira Knightly could never make something like that really convincing, IMO.[/spoil]
lizardgirl - Yeah, good point.
[spoiler]Who else could they have gotten to play the part of Elizabeth, though? As you said, Keira Knightly looks the part, but the acting moments don’t seem to suit her character correctly. I’m trying to think of who else would have been…“adequate”.
Heh…[/spoiler]
Hmm… By the way, what was with the whole…[spoil]…“two thousand Jack Sparrows running around” deal? Where they to represent Jack’s many consciences or something?
[/spoil]
I don’t know. That was probably the oddest part of the movie (and that’s saying somethin!) and I never really quite figured it out. Maybe it was supposed to be Jack’s punishment in “the locker,” or was he just being weird?
Yeah, it was weird alright. My guess is that he just went off the hook from not having any companionship, but I don’t know…
Okay, my friends really like Tia Dalma. They not only like her because of how she looks, but the way she played her character. They found her absolutely amazing.
I thought she was kind of weird, and maybe over-acted a bit. But that’s just being picky.
Overall, she’s a pretty cool character!
[spoil]Especially when she becomes Calypso!:P[/spoil]
I thought when that happened, it was just stupid.
I thought it was cool – but yeah, dumb.
[spoil]So she falls into crabs, then does some sort of whirlpool thing and is never seen again for the rest of the movie…kinda weird!
[/spoil]
Mitch-
[spoiler]I would’ve put the effort into finding an unknown actress to play Keira Knightley’s part- someone a little more tomboyish. But of course, that would never happen- this is Disney we’re talking about, so the actors and actresses have to be famous already. ![]()
Also, the weird millions of Jacks thing was, I think, just to show that he had lost his mind a bit. I guess they wanted to show just how bad it was if you had been left in Davy Jones’ Locker, rather than Jack being rescued, leaving it and not having any after effect- it makes the place seem not dangerous at all.[/spoiler]
I too thought that the whole giant Calypso thing was weird. Did anyone understand what she was saying? I would have liked to have understood that. Plus she didnt seem too goddess-like to me. Just giant-like
In response to the original topic, while i’m no Orlando Bloom fan, I must admit he’s easy on the eyes. As a pirate anyway. For some reason I dont find him that attractive when he’s just normal. Plus he looks a lot better as a brunette than as a blond. I cant say I have a crush on him though.
Jack Sparrow is my definite favorite. I crush on him the whole time i’m watching the movies. This last one could have been better. It didn’t seem to have him in it as much. some people are so “Eh, Jack! He’s gross!” Well, yeah, duh, he’s a pirate. a very sexy pirate. He just has the best personality and he’s so gruff. wow, i really fangirled out on this one. haha. oh, i’m new here, by the way.
Could it be safe to say that Jack Sparrow is the most hilarious character out of all three pirates movies?
yes it can
i personally think that there wouldn’t have been squeals if it wasn’t for that character and Johnny Depp’s performance.
Kat Snape- You’re very right, there. The icon that is Jack Sparrow is a huge part in what made POTC such a big franchise, and if any other actor had played the character, it just wouldn’t have been the same at all!
My fave is definitely Davy Jones. I’ve done some drawings of him. Me and my one friend totally love the guy.
i checked your dA profile and saw your Davy jones drawings. I have to say that they are really, really cool! Talk about fandom. You drew Jones rather nicely.
The Star Swordsman - Thanks!
I practice drawing different characters a lot, and that’s what makes me so good.
YOu are totally welcome Marie. Have you tried drawing any other pirate characters?
Other than my own character, Esmerelda, no I haven’t.
