Pixar.com Update

As I was

browsing around the Pixar official website yesterday, I noticed that a new

thing-a-ma-bob had been included. Check it out

here:

Beta Careers Site

now has a new beta site for users to apply for a career at their studio! And, if I do say so myself, it looks

pretty spiffy-looking…

To access this particular link from the main page, follow these directions:

1. Go to Pixar.com.
2. Click on

Company Info in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

3. Select Jobs.
4.

Choose Apply using our Beta Careers Site!.

Kind of interesting, if you would

like to take a peep. There is nothing new concerning Ratatouille though, so don’t

get too excited…yet.

I noticed that a

few days ago, but yeah check it out it’s cool.

Edit: They also have some cool pictures of Pixar’s

Kitchen and what types of cereal’s Pixar employees eat.

Intresting. I like the use of the words “expand our ‘pit crew’”

JV (on the kitchen/cereal thing) - Really? I

didn’t see that! Where did you find it?

The Star Swordsman - Heheh –

yes, as do I. I was internally chuckling at how creative Pixar is and likes to be.

Mitch: Click on

“Interns”

JV - Very cool. I read

everything. Thanks, JV!

i am SO going to try for an internship once I graduate ( which will be in like

8 years ! : ( ) . oh well , maybe when i’m in my 20’s .

Heh, I checked out their new job thingy a week ago when

one of my friends told me about their recent job postings (and ZOMG there’s an animator position I’m qualified

to apply for, so you’d better believe I’ve sold my soul to the computer science lab until I have a beautiful

demo reel). It’s really nice. Once I get into the nitty gritties of the application process, I’ll decide

whether I like it better than the old interface (which I used to apply for their summer TD internship position

last year, which I actually ended up screwing up the application and probably my chances… eh, lessons learned

the hard way, and I adored the summer job I ended up getting).

Now, back to graphics/animation, which

shall now eat my soul until midnight on Monday. headdesk

gottalovepixar - Good luck

with that. I hope you get the job.

DWH - Heh – hey, well, you live and

you learn. But look on the bright side: As big of a computer whizz you are you should be able to submit a demo

reel in no time…one of these days. Who knows? Perhaps you’ll find yourself underneath a desk at Pixar in the

(hopefully near) future? Don’t give up your ambitions!

I’m gonna try

to get a job over the summer over there. Maybe a little helper or I can work over at the gift store or

something.

Mitch : hee hee lol . i hope pixar is still big by then

.

I just noticed , they really like that cereal huh ? About everybody said something about " The

Great Wall of Cereal " . lol

Pixar will be good for many years to come. They are

still a young company and have only completed 6 great animated films. You won’t have to worry.

I agree with The Star

Swordsman on this – Pixar is just beginning to leap over the fence. They still have many years to

go, which will (hopefully) be forever…

And yes, they sure do seem to love their cereal. Who

wouldn’t? :stuck_out_tongue:

As long as they got incredible people there, and great stories, they will last a long

time.

Interesting, i may

have to check that out. And I especially wanna check out the thing about the cereal!

The Star

Swordsman - True, indeed. I have never forgotten a quote by John Lasseter on the

Monsters Inc. bonus features disc (on the dvd). He said:

"Story is the most important thing in our films. Always has been; always will be.

That’s what entertains audiences."

Good ol’ John.

After all, all of the Pixar movies had incredible

stories. I guess the only required component of a wonderful movie is just a great story. As Brad Bird

said,

“The tools are fun to play with. But essentialy, a story goes all the way.”

Or

something like that.

That’s true. Plus all their stories are original. They’re not based on books for fairy

tales…

Actually, fairy tale stories are not bad either. I think all you need is a good story. Fairy

tales are indeed good stories. I think Pixar could do an excellent fairy tale is they decide to tackle it.

The Star Swordsman - I agree – I have no doubt

that Pixar could make something of a fairy tale if they make the decision to face it head-on. Heck, you could

hand them a broomstick and they would be able to make a story out of it.
