Once again, I agree with TSS. I love the Pixar movies to bits, but they are way too
male dominated.

lizardgirl - Ha. Yeah, overly dominate is more like
it. It doesn’t really seem to bother me, for some reason.
Heh – come to think of it, Colette is the
only main/noticeable female character in Ratatouille, isn’t she? I can’t believe I
just noticed that…
Good obs! I would suggest that Brad justg likes
the boys but in fact Helen and Violet are probably two of Pixar’s strongest and roundest female characters to
date. And then of course there’s Edna who is just a character in herself - but frankly I think the gender
dabate is still open for discussion there. =P
Dash - Oh yeah. Well, I guess The Incredibles was an
exception. I’m so stinkin’ forgetful! I think I’ll just back out of this debate… (snigger) ![]()
I think i would like it
if the females were at the center of attention in the movie for once.
I
would be okay with either one. Heh, maybe it could be some sort of “duo”…that would be neat! ![]()
I am not sure if a duo would really work. in TI, we had a duo with Bob and Helen, but one is bound to take
up more screen time.
Very true, TSS. You really can’t have a true
“duo”. One is bound to have more screen time. Still, it be cool if it they could make it work…
Ahem. Welp, I guess this answers some of our
questions! Badda-bing:

Thanks
goes to Upcoming Pixar for the link.

Ah, so it will not just be all live action. I think that is a good choice, considering
that it is Pixar.
Sorry, this is an older thread, am just finding some of these older ones.
I don’t mind Pixar going into live-action for one reason – and that’s because the reason Pixar has been so successful isn’t because their CGI grass looks great or their fuzzy blue hair looks so realistic. It’s because of story, story, story, and the care they take in their productions. Pixar could have easily made 2D animation and been just as successful, so what’s wrong with them trying other methods? As long as they stay true to what they are, they will still be Pixar, no matter which medium they chose to use.
(There’s another reason too: I tend to cringe when the public “demands” someone or something stay pigeonholed and typecast in the narrow window that they’ve been initially known for. Imagine if Leslie Nielson hadn’t taken a try at comedic acting [he was a serious actor], or [sorry for the music reference] if Beethoven had continued to write music in Mozart’s style instead of finding his own throughout his life. Without sounding rude (I don’t mean to be), the public does not own people just because they’re in the spotlight. But I digress. This can be argued forever, so just forget this point, and refer back to point #1 above…) ![]()
So true.
Yeah I guess you’re right about that. But then I dont think Pixar would do a bad job with it, but I’m not sure if it would be as good as their animated movies. I guess i’d have to wait for the movie to come out before I made an official judgement.
