I almost spit out my chicken salad when I read the comic Curtis in the newspaper today. (For those who may not have that comic, it’s about a middle class African-American boy living in the city)
Guy At Happy Subs: When Disney teamed with Pixar, they let a lot of us “pure artists” hit the pavement!
“It’s the wave of the future,” They said! A fine way to treat people who have devoted years to the profession!
That’s how I wound up here making subs for a meager living!
A guy named Gus: Wouldya like a soda with your order?
Guy at Happy Subs: Gus, here, used to be a Disney background artist!
Beside the fact it’s not even funny (I kinda felt it was only meant for the author to blow some steam and tried to make it a little funny). Call me overreacting, but I kinda felt it put Pixar at the same level as those other Disney CGI clunkers. I agree that Disney should not have fired their traditional animators, but still. Is there really a need to point a finger at Pixar?
If you see Pixar in other media that you want to talk about, post it here.
