Rocky Horror reference?
Sure, but only a few may get it
A lot of people know that quote, but nobody even remembers where it started.
I submitted a film for a possible movie night.
OH. MY. GOSH.
This movie night is going to be awesome! I can just taste it! There’s going to be so many cool people there, I can’t wait! Now I have something to look forward to at the end of the week! (Well that, and the weekend, but I always look forward to that.)
By the way, awesome banner! Who made it? Do you guys mind if I wear it as well?
(This was sent to ffdude1906, but I just found out how inactive he is…so I’m posting this with a few edits.)
I have an idea for the GREATEST MOVIE NIGHT EVER.
We use my favorite film, as well as the favorite of several other nerds I know, Little Shop of Horrors (WITH original ending).
It’s a musical from Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, names not unfamiliar to Disney fans. The play Little Shop of Horrors is quite literally their big break and gave them the star power to do Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc.
Why it’s a big movie: 1. First off, a TIME survey shows the play it’s based on is the number one most performed play among high schools (as of 2007). THAT ALONE IS PRETTY BIG!
- The film is VERY controversial for being one of the few films that scared a test audience “too” much. The film starts out like a comedy, but gets darker and darker (the halfway point is sorta a dark comedy) before becoming a drama/horror. The test audience LOVED the movie (lots of laughter and applause)…until the grizzly, horrorifying ending.
Recent evidence surfaced showing this is because the film was marketed as a “family friendly holiday flick”, and the infamous test audience was actually a group of families (parents and children) in the conversative Orange County. Eye witnesses and press packets have surfaced confirming this.
So in summation:
-
Chicken Man’s favorite movie.
-
Most performed play in America.
-
Mis-marketed film that will always be remembered for the censorship Hollywood inflicted upon it.
WARNING: You’ll laugh, cry, and learn a VERY valuable lesson about the evils of temptation.
Also, if the film reminds you of a certain folk legend/fairy tale, that’s NO coincidence. It’s completely intentional, as stated by the director and the writer.
Oh wait, what’s the movie about, you ask? Well, here’s the short version.
Plot: In this lovely musical about the dangers of greed and temptation, there’s a lovable, shy guy named Seymour Krelborne (Rick Moranis). He wants to get out of the poor side of town…or at least, stay employed. He also wants Audrey (Ellen Greene) to like him…or at least have her greasey boyfriend (Steve Martin) not beat on her.
Don’t fret, Seymour! There’s one way all of your problems can be solved.
A deal with the devil…or in this case, a plant.
Remember, only WITH the original ending is this film as awesome as the play its based on!
Yours truly! Glad you like it, and I can’t wait to talk Friday night! But no, you’re not allowed to wear it

The Chicken Man, Haha yeah, he hasn’t been on the forums in a while. A few of us have just taken over the operation, first TDIT, then love70, and now myself.
It’s too early to make a decision now, we’ll bring this up next week. Though that does give me a reason to finally watch it.
You mean Little Shop of Horrors?
If so, remember to switch to the original ending on YouTube when the reprise of Suppertime starts!
Golly, I would love to join But I don’t have Skype, Is it possable to do it n the Pixar Planet Chat room?
Also, can I add the movie Signature bar thing, it will be a good way to asvertise!
This sounds like fun I am getting the rest of Pixar films I don’t in some weeks to come or whatever, so if you are still letting people join, I would like to (I have Skype, and a mic, but I lost it at the moment, so I need to find it) or get a new mic, because that one is annoying as you can hear a lot of the background noises.
If any of you wanna add me my name is Neehtils
Thank you for taking up the mantle, love70ways and thewisecookiesheet. Hopefully this will be the return of PPMN for a little while longer!
And I’m really stoked that this week’s movie is Cars. But unfortunately, my term has started and my folks are here for my convocation, so no dice for me till end of August, I’m afraid.
I’d love to join your posse folks, but first I’m gonna do a little homework!
Thanks TDIT! Hopefully this will be the comeback! Muhahaha!
We’ll miss you over the next few weeks, but your re-arrival should be grand.
Hehe, get that homwork done! (And good luck with your studies!)
Hm, maybe I’m going to join you on Friday but I’m not really sure yet. I have Skype and who wants, can add me. Just look for yuna_leonhart… or should I add you?
Though I should warn you: my Internet connectivity is really bad. So I sometimes lose the connection and I’m offline, though most of the times I’m back real quick. But there are times when my Internet needs an eternity to re-connect.
Sorry gleefan Zac! I skipped your posts!
gleefan: You do have to have Skype, sorry man, but its the easiest way to communicate for this. It is free, easy to download (no restart installation if I can recall), and it doesn’t take up any space at all!
Zac: I’ll send you a request!
WoN: I’ll PM you my Skype, and if your internet drops, we can always add you back in.
And yes! All of you are welcome to join! The only time its too late is when we’re done talking Hope to see you three then!
I hope that long persuasive essay thing on why we should do a LSOH (with original ending) movie night wasn’t a waste.
Thank you for the invites, thewisecookiesheet and tacowiz I will not be able to make it friday (camping with my family) but I would really like to make it to the next one, if I can (and I have it on DVD, but we have a DVD rent shop nearby, so I could take a look in there)
The Chicken Man: I love your passion for Little Shop! I am also a big fan of the show. Two years ago I played Mr. Mushnik in my local children’s theater production of the show, and it was so much fun! “Mushnik and Son” is definitely my favorite memory from all of my theatatrical experiences.
Ooh, LUCKY! I’d kill to be in Little Shop!
Sorry The Chicken Man (I think your tacowiz, aren’t you? ) I declined because I have lost my mic and am looking for it, sorry.
