Pixar rave

I’ve come here to not just rave about how Pixar changed movies, but how they have changed my movie going habits. Toy Story came out in 1995, I was 22 and didn’t care about kid’s movies. Same with “A Bug’s Life”. Strangly, Dreamwork’s “Shrek” got my intrest in this form of animation. By “Shrek”'s release, I had a 3 year old son, and decided to take him to the movies for the first time.

I was awestruck. The detail an flow was excellent compared to what Xerox-graphed cell animation had become. Since then, I’ve made a habit to see any Pixar and Dreamworks animated movie in the theater. IN my opinion, “Cars” was artisticlly excellent, as I have grown up around racing my entire life. The little details were there perfectly until the big wreck, which then brought me back to watching a cartoon. (NOT a complaint)

That son is now into “Speed Racer” which is a live action movie turned into a cartoon. My daughter, who is 3, loves “Finding Nemo”

“Wall-E” was excellent enough it should be considered for Best Picture at this years Oscar’s. I know there is an Animated Feature award, but Wall-E goes a bit beyond the normal animated feature.

Firstly, welcome to the boards, Dieseldan! You’re clearly a real Pixar enthusiast.

And secondly, I agree- Pixar really has been life changing for many people. And it’s great to hear how you can enjoy animated movies alongside your son and daughter, as opposed to them just being referred to as “kiddie” films.

Hopefully WALL-E will make the nomination. It will be such a big step in the right direction for animated movies, and will show that anyone can enjoy these films.
