Actually, whilst watching

‘Top 100 Animations’, Brad Bird talked about this. He said something along the lines of, 'Bob’s the man of

the family, he has to be strong for the others, kids like Dash are hyperactive, teenagers like Violet have no

confidence and are always trying to disappear, and mothers like Helen are being forced to stretch around everyone

else’. So yep, you’ve got it right!

That idea of Brad Bird’s was absolute genious.
