Pixar Should Stick to In-animate Objects

I enjoy watching in-animate objects come to life rather than humans.

And as we all know, this

was the first feature film from Pixar to have humans as the main characters.

It’s no surprise that this

is not one of my favourite Pixar movies despite it still being good.

What is your view on Pixar using

humans as they main characters.

Personally, the Incredibles is my favorite movie of all time. I love it so much, I am practically obsessed.

But going back on topic now.

The Pixar People love to challenge themselves. That is why their films are so

successful. THey try something they have never done before. When working on the Incredibles, everyone knew the

challenge was animating a believeable human. From the hair, the clothes, even to the movements, everything was a

challenge. But they pulled it off and the Incredibles was considered one of the (if not

the) best animated movies of all time.

I loved the characters of the

Incredibles. I perfer them instead of in-animate objects.

OK, nice to see other opinions, and I know The Incredibles is wildly popular.

Personally, I believe Pixar were incredibly brave to

attempt to animate humans, and with ‘Final Fantasy’ as close competition, they had to make it good. The problem

with FF was that they attempted to animate real humans, and it ended up being a little creepy, with the voices

generally not matching the look of the characters themselves. The Incredibles, on the other hand, had real enough

characters without them becoming too creepy. Their cartoonish proportions ended up working really well.

Brad Bird didn’t want to make

the humans realistic because “. . .that would be overkill”. You got hair and clothes as well as the

proportions of the body to worry about. If one can make believeable, convincing humans, then the audience

wouldn’t find anything creepy.

Incredibles … was alright, but it rather bored me

'cause there were only humans. I prefer when they had animals or in-animate objects … the bugs were cool too.

 I don’t prefer Pixar with people … I like things more out of the ordinary.

Well, the fact that the Incredibles were human is what

sets it apart from the rest of the movies. When Pixar puts together a film, they are branching out futher in the

CG development. The Incredibles is no excuse. It was this movie that they created a program to create a more

natural skin tone.

I’ve known of the “people problem” for

some time, since I first noticed in TS1 that Woody seemed more realistic than Andy. That was why I was never

really into the idea on The Incredibles.

However, I should have had the faith

I have NOW in PIXAR, because when I finally saw it a month later, I LOVED IT!! Not my favorite PIXAR film

(currently third), but I REALLY enjoyed it . . . and I haven’t doubted PIXAR since!

Exactly how I feel, and I do

still sit down and enjoy The Incredibles, but just not as much as something like Monsters Inc. where the

environment and world is totally out of the ordinary i.e. monsters are employed to scare children. What a living.

Yeah, Superheroes are normal . . .

I like the human characters. It show how far Pixar is willing to go to ensure

prefection.

I know

Superheroes aren’t ‘normal’- It’s just when I think superheroes I think cheesy comics or Saturday morning

cartoons. I just don’t like movies about superheroes. I did like Spiderman, but that’s original- a lot of super

powers given to new cartoons are cliche. Like … Incredibles is mostly based off of Fantastic Four, and Dash is

like Flash, and Mr. Incredible is like Superman. You can’t get original with super powers, since a lot of it’s

been done before.

I was just teasing, AFTB!! But keep in mind, while you do have a valid point that superheroes

have been done before, you have to give PIXAR credit for making a superhero film that didn’t copy other films.

They may have given them tributes (Mr. Incredible/Superman, Dash/Flash) . . . but they never actually COPIED

someone’s else’s ideas or even jokes.

That’s another thing I love about PIXAR . . . they are pretty

strict about developing idea IN HOUSE, and not from some book, TV show, or person’s life for that matter!

I

don’t think Brad Bird meant to have the powers of the Incredibles be similar to others. He just wanted them to

mirror their station in life.

Like Helen have

to be able to stretch around to get so many things done!

And Violet who is self conscious of herself and alsways on the defensive. That is why she has

force fields and invisibility.

Well, I went to the School of Visual Arts over the summer, and it was funny- no

one mentioned the Incredibles when it came to Pixar- and these were comic people.

They talked about Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and Finding Nemo though. I dunno- I guess Incredibles isn’t as

popular in real life as it is on the net. I still can’t see why it’s popular online. It wasn’t the best movie.

Too much action for me. Exploding and stuff. I guess that catches the attention of little boys and stuff. But

this isn’t a classic, in my own opinion. I think they developed their characters a whole lot more in their other

movies. I dunno; I just didn’t feel connected with the main character, or any of them. I mean, how can you

relate with someone who was immensely popular and then suddenly everyone hated them? I’ve never been popular in

my entire life, nor do I plan to be.

Sorry if this isn’t making sense, but out of all the movies they

made … I dunno- it just gets on my nerves. I hear the lines over and over again in my head and it makes me sick

to my stomach. When I like a movie, and I hear the lines, it doesn’t bother me but … this does. I hate to put

down a Pixar film, but at least this is the only one I dislike. =P

Pixar should stick to in-animate

objects and animals and stuff. It’s what I grew up with, and it’s what I feel they’re best at.

Please

don’t argue- it’s just an opinion. I can recall there are some people on here

who’d love to constantly argue senselessly just to up their post count. Please

don’t. It’s just an opinion. You

don’t have to agree.

Just for saying that, I know I’m going to get the

regulars … -__- who here actually reads a whole post when they refuse to hear the opinions of others? I’ve had

people constantly trying to make me like the Incredibles that are on this board. It’s sick. Don’t try to change

people.

Well, I am going to disagree with certain things you said. That’s not saying that your

opinion isn’t valid, just that my opinion is valid as well.
I think The Incredibles appeals to a lot of

people because each of the characters has experienced different things. A lot of people identify with shy

Violet. Housewives find themselves in Helen. I can’t say I can really identify with Bob…but there are other

things about the movie that I do love. I think it’s a great family movie. I’m not trying to make you like

it,I’m just sharing what I think. I imagine Pixar is going to focus on inanimate objects, but I don’t think

another movie starring humans would be a horrible thing.

I read this and must say you have a very strong opinion about the movies you

like. But I must say that I respectfully disagree with what you said. The Incrdibles is very popular. It my not

be popular at the school you went to, but it sure is popular. The Incredibles may not be your favorite Pixar

movie off all time. But it is number on on my “All Time Favorite Movie List”. I believe that the action

and the fantastic parts balance with the storyline and the mundane scenes. It was all part of Brad Bird’s

directing. Too much action or mundane will bore the viewers. He does an excellent job of balancing

it.

Pixar is without a doubt the greatest animation studio in the world. The way they animate animals and

in-animate objects can not be compared. But you have to consider this. Humans are hard to animate. The reason why

it doesn’t look as detailed as a fish, or a car, or a toy is because the animators had to consider many things.

There are expectations that you have to meet when animating a human because we look at least one every day. If

one fails to meet those expectations, people will notice something wrong. Plus, the animators had to deal with

hair and clothing simulation. That was a tough one to do.

Consider this also. Shrek 2 had absolute

detailed humans. The Incredibles had caricatured humans. It was the Incredibles that took the Anine Awards by

storm. Not to metion they won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. So I don’t see why Pixar should stick to just

in-animate objects.

Like I said. I humbly respect you opinion, and I’m not going to force you to like the

Incredibles. I just feel strongly about my opinion and felt like I need to say something. But don’'t consider

it an arguement. Consider this as an incredible topic to debate on.

I shall only offer evidence against one point.

The Incredibles is widely popular off of the internet. I know this because I sell

way too much TI stuff at the D-Store on a daily basis myself to believe otherwise. Also, when friends watch the

movie with me, they continuously tell me how much they enjoy it and they can see what I see in it - not everyone

loves it, but more do than don’t. Not to mention it is consistently rated by critics as among the best films of

any genre, medium, or otherwise.
