Huh, it looks like my application still hasn’t been looked at. That’s good, I guess?
As for PUP, they are currently doing the first round of interviews. If they don’t like enough people from the first round to fill out the program, they’ll call more people to interview. So it’s not quite over yet.
Waaah. They still haven’t even looked at mine yet! : ( At least look at it before calling everyone for interviews! I don’t even have a chance this way.
Still no update on the site… it’s driving me crazy! The deadline for the animation internship closed on the 6th of April though, so maybe it’ll be awhile… I haven’t seen anyone else who applied for the animation internship on here. Anyone??
There is one other person is on here. Demi Lion is. I think art is going to take a while because they have to go through portfolio work and organize it. I don’t think the update is an indicator from what it sounds like. They might have a separate way to look at it all so that they can evaluate people.
Remember everyone they have 8 departments they are going through and some might be more high priority than others. I think that this process if going to take sometime. We don’t know which departments they might be contacting at the moment. I know pup lasted later than it did last year. Kev was contacted last week early and depending on the amount of applicants they have to look at a lot.
It might run into May with this. Keep your eyes and ears open and don’t get discouraged.
Going into May could be a problem… I have two other job offers beginning in May that I need to confirm. I would really prefer to not accept a job offer and then turn around three weeks later and say something better came up. I mean, I can, but that wouldn’t look so well professionally for me.
I understand how you feel about that. I am preparing if I do get the job any back up plans incase I don’t. I don’t want to plan it that way but I know I have to. I just want a shot at all of this because this would really help me start out with a career. The graduates coming out soon don’t know how lucky they are that the economy is turning around. It maybe slow but it has been so difficult to get a job where I live that I was thankful to get a low end one. You often get you don’t have enough experience and you ask some of these people how are you suppose to when you can’t receive any experience. Internships are now starting to pop up more often and more are paid slots. As before most were you fund your own way. I literately have done so much free work even with a magazine that I ended up costing me and not getting me where I needed to because of favoritism and the person was scared I and anyone else would “steal” their contacts. Times are tough but if you get a shot at something great don’t let it go. They come far and few in between and you need to weigh what would give you the best chance for success.
Hedge your bets but don’t give up hope. If the company you start working for likes you they will work with you. You might find Pixar saves you from a place you end up not liking too. Many unknowns right now but don’t give up.
I hope anyone on here who is from Boston is ok and gets home safely. Please be careful going home today! Very sad day… For those that don’t know possible bombing in Boston. I am just hoping none of the people on here were affected…
The other possibility is that the “last updated” doesn’t reliably correspond with whether they’ve looked at it. Maybe they make notes on some applications, and only those show up as updated, or maybe they only show up as updated if it is marked as either totally out of the running or someone they’ve called, or one of countless other possibilities.
