Yeah, I sent in my flat portfolio along with a DVD with it all in digital format wit my resume and cover letter. Had to overnight it and was BLESSED to find that the school picked up the $60 tab. Keeping my fingers crossed that all the hard work, long hours and consistent all nighters did the job, you know? Best of luck man!
@ Demlion: Best of luck to you to man! I know the feeling. I made a decision to pull a story out of no where right before deadline. Those were some loopy all nighters haha. You’re lucky the school pulled the tab. I think spent 75 on shipping and printing. Kinkos is just horrible but it was by the school and did the job, even if I had to do reprints (and pay for it).
Haha it looks like we’re all in the same boat. I overnighted mine as well. Actually wasn’t signed for til the next Monday after materials were due (I was a little confused because the listing said materials needed to be in by the end of the day Saturday but no one signed for it Saturday so I assume they were closed!). But if that messes up my chances it’s out of my control anyway! Also turns out I have no idea if my application was updated because the date changes if you update your password, which I did before I checked! Ahh! Also printed last minute and hand trimmed the pages and bound with a perfect bind machine. It was a high stress scenario!
Either way I kind of enjoy waiting. I’ll keep trying to get into Pixar regardless so I won’t be totally torn up if it doesn’t work out. But good luck to everyone else waiting!
@ sirlupton Did your profile for marketing get updated right before your rejection (sorry btw)? Just trying to determine if the fact that mine hasn’t been updated means that it hasn’t been reviewed.
Sorry for the confusion. I DID NOT get a rejection letter for marketing. I DID get a rejection for publicity and yes my profile was updated for the publicity to the day and time I got the letter. I’m still waiting for marketing and post production.
@Lizard_rrr good to know ! Considering that for animation there are 900 applicants, for TD roles they should be no more than 1/3. but still, 300 is a big number : )
@Sirlupton i really hope we find out this week! I feel like if we do not hear anything this week, that they just forgot to send us letters or something lol.
Do you know or have your heard of anyone getting accepted for it yet?
Not to be a pessimist but I’d call it done for any group where acceptance letters have been sent already. There’s probably a possibility they’re sending them one at a time but I wouldn’t assume so.
For the moment, I’m calling myself wait-listed. I figure since I haven’t been rejected or accepted, then I must either be an alternate, or so far into the grey zone that I’m one of like 50 people they are choosing amongst for 5 remaining spots.
If it’s all basically over and we’re just awaiting our rejection letters… I do find consolation in the fact that having such steep and overwhelming numbers of competition means you could be completely amazing and still get passed over. And Pixar isn’t going anywhere! This is my last year to try for an internship but I think some of you guys still have a couple years? Either way it’s a numbers game and even if it passes this year it’s definitely not the last shot we have
Also just out of curiosity what does the number on Creative Internship mean when you log in to check your application? Mine says Creative Intern (3 of 18). I think I actually applied for three internships a few months ago but I withdrew one that I didn’t actually want to apply for, so I’m out for Art and Story. Story is listed separately. I thought maybe it was the number of internships I initially applied for but that can’t be right.
Huh, well that’s interesting. I applied for art (but didn’t send a portfolio, so already got my rejection) and animation. For art it says “Creative Intern (1 of 18) Art” and for animation it says “Creative Intern (3 of 18)”. At first I thought the same as you Rendrman, but we’ve already been proved wrong there, because someone’s teacher said that there were 300 applications and 12 positions. So it’s still not very many, but it’s better than three. I would have said that the (x of 18) referred to the number they attribute to the type of creative intern, except that we’ve now seen two for animation. Huh. It might be something arbitrary, like that they group our portfolios/reels together for different people to go through.
