Pixar summer internship 2013

Well… it really depends on the need of the studio at the particular time.

rl290: So sorry to hear that man! You have a great personality and attitude though, I’m sure you have amazing things in store for you. And if this position was taking only one intern, that’s superb that you got the interview for it!! One animator from Pixar told me that if you are interviewed once, it means you DO have the potential to work for them. However, when it comes down to numbers, he just says that it’s all about timing. He said that it also means that in the future, if they need someone for that position, they will most likely call you up if you do happen to reapply. Best of luck to you! You made it so far, and you can only make it further at this point.

Evepie, i really appreciate the support (same to everyone else’s) and that’s very helpful information for me later on! I do plan to reapply later on, and hope they are going to look for another post-production intern as I plan to further myself [like you said]… thank you so much, guys!

Another quiet day, best wishes to everyone

Hello, I’ve been browsing this forum for the last couple days as I wait to hear back about my animation intern application.
Just thought I’d share - a pixar animator posted on his twitter that 4 students from the ‘Animation Collaborative’ got the internship! twitter.com/richiegunzer
This is the first time I’ve heard of this school but it must be really good; maybe something to consider if you’re trying to get into Pixar for animation!

Anyways, with finding that out today, I feel like they must be pretty much done with animation…

I bet acceptances were today and rejections are tomorrow, for all categories even. I mean not that I have evidence for that, just a guess! And with Rendrman getting the acceptance the other day I figured that was that for animation as well. Still wondering if anyone got the story internship(s) yet though! And good luck to all of us still waiting no matter what!

Also twitter seems to have a couple recent posts about animation so I think it’s relatively safe to say that one is full up.

STILL nothing yet with the art department, so my gut is saying next week is when it all goes down.

Well good luck everyone! The wait is getting more and more agonizing with each passing day - but it’s nice to know I’m not alone in this!

Also for any Blue Sky intern applicants, I think they sent out rejection letters today (i got mine for anim today).

For those wondering about story, a classmate of mine got a rejection letter yesterday for the story internship…

I didnt get mine yet. Did you hear from sony , disney or laika yet?

Congrats to Renderman! and sorry to rl290, at least you’ve gotten farther than I ever have =D. I’m wondering though, with Disney I didn’t get a rejection e-mail last year, maybe I screwed up on the app last year? how about you guys? Oh also Disney’s timeline was 4-6 weeks from April 16, and if that holds true we still have next week for week 5=) stay steady fellow hopefuls =D

I got the rejection from Sony a week ago. I’m assuming they’re done, but you never know!

Nothing from disney yet (though like philosophicalguy I never got a rejection email from them last year). Unfortunately I didn’t apply to sony or laika, I’m kicking myself about that now lol.

In the letter from Blue Sky it says, “…while in the end we chose to go with another candidate…” so I’m assuming it’s ‘the end’ and they’ve picked someone for sure. Hopefully you’ll hear from them soon!

Hey Sarah! Yes, this is an excellent ‘school’, the Animation Collaborative. I would highly suggest anyone going there to brush up their skills and soak up the wealth of information that the instructors and students could offer. Also, I think that some of the instructors are the ones heading some of the interns at Pixar, so they can really help give amazing feedback on your reels.

I spent three weeks there last summer, and it was an incredible experience. People are so humble, so passionate and just so awesome.

Nice, this sounds like the perfect program for me at this time. I was looking into doing animation mentor or ianimate, but I’ve already done 4 years of animation school…I think all I really need at this point is help refining my reel, plus I’d rather learn in person than online. I’m glad I know about this now!

Still no word from them

No profile update?

I really thought today would be the last day but I really wonder if they’re going to push this to next week. Whew!

That’s what I’m thinking. Since they JUST finished with animation, I think we’re getting looked at today and should know into next week. BEST OF LUCK AND WELL WISHES! I think at least 1 person from here is going to get picked, hopefully more from the work I have seen from you all.

I bet you’re right. And yeah! Your work is awesome. I haven’t shown mine because honestly, my portfolio was not really tailored to art or to story in and of itself! I just graduated from a graphic design program and mostly do motion graphics so it was a bit off the wall (and part of the reason I’m just baffled I haven’t been rejected yet just based on that, though I think I have the chops for both positions, though I think my preference at this point might be story). You can see it on my site though: http://www.caitcadieux.com.

I haven’t seen too many art portfolios that I can recall on here but yours (DemLion!) was crazy good and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you got it! Good luck to everyone!

I’m looking through your motion work right now and your vector animation works are SO FLUID! Seriously this is really strong work, what programs do you use?
