It’s understandable though… Production internship postings are based on production’s demand, unless it is a training program. Can’t blame them much, I assume you’re all aware that no Pixar movie is coming out this year, they probably don’t feel the need for interns anymore.
There are always other places, so don’t be disappointed.
Its understandable that they might not always have places for interns, as I guess the demand does come and go like previously stated. I get it I do.
But. Even then. That is such a cruel thing to do to someones dreams.
From my perspective I had to plan ahead and think about flights (there and back from NZ)/travel costs/spending money ect. Fund it on a part time job with hours that fluctuated. There were somethings that I went without to save that money.
I just would have really, really appreciated a heads up on them not taking art interns this year. That would have been appreciated so much.
I’m sure this doesn’t really help much, but I’m sure it wasn’t intentional. I believe they’re working on The Good Dinosaur now and maybe it hit an unexpected snag in the pipeline. I know that sometimes studios will hire a bunch of animators only to let them go a little while later. Sometimes it’s because something that sounded great in a story pitch just isn’t working when it’s played on the big screen. And then it’s back to the story department. Maybe something similar happened.
Is this post dead now? Does anyone know if they will still hire other interns? Like production management or marketing interns this year?
I applied for marketing, and I didn’t get any email indicating that they weren’t taking marketing interns. (Also, I think most of the people on this post applied as art interns, so I think the post will probably be a little quieter.) Everyone will start talking again once they hear about interviews and such, so it’s just a waiting game at this point.
I suppose so. I hate to be pessimistic, but last year I don’t think a single person heard anything from Pixar about their marketing opportunities on here. I could be wrong though.

I already saw some posts about art and marketing interns… anyone applied for story?
Last year a lot of the applications weren’t due until the end of March and I know I didn’t get an email from them until the beginning of May. Since this year a lot of applications were due the beginning of March I hoping we will start hearing back BEFORE May. And since Art is out of the picture, they will have less applications to go through.
By the way… did you hear the news? Disney has confirmed that The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 are in development!

I didnt apply to that but one of my friends did and he already got his rejection email. Still waiting to hear for for the animation position i applied for
I’m assuming that unless you’ve heard back, you still have a chance if getting one. So they are still probably hiring interns, just not in that one department. I applied for the undergrad one and I haven’t heard back either so I’m guessing they are still going through those. And like someone else said, I didn’t get my rejection last year till early May, so we still have a lot of time to wait

Yeah I’ve applied for some other internships, some that start at the end of May, so I really hope we find out sooner, just invade I get those. I don’t want to tell them I can do it then have to back out at the last minute.
Also, I’m so excited for Incredibles 2! I loved the first one and I hope this one is just as good

From looking at the view status page, I don’t think they’ve looked at my reel as of yet. I was curious, on that page up at the top it has a link to update your information.

There are a few areas of my reel that I’ve fixed up a bit and I would love to submit the link to the new reel. But I’m not sure if that would disqualify me given the deadline was March 2nd. Do any of you guys and gals know how they feel about that?
Good to hear from ya man! I am pretty damn sure they have not gone through PUP reels yet. I’m afraid I cannot answer your question. But I will say that as long as your URL is the same on their end, anything that you update on your own site does not make a difference. All they do is follow the link. I have updated my site a few times but I have not changed any info on the application. Did you give them your vimeo link? Or your website link? That will be the difference. Either way, good luck! They should be getting to the PUP applications next week I bet.
