Just today. I fell asleep around 6PM and woke up at 12AM and checked my email and it’s there. OMG. Now I need to make sure I don’t screw up the interviews!
Wow! Congratulations! Just be yourself and good luck

Kill it, Andrea! Sending you the best universe vibes! Be natural but be sure to practice! (-:
AWESOME!! That is so great! You are gonna do amazing!
Also, has anyone here applied for the Blue Sky internships? They are sending out notifications to people who passed the first round of portfolio reviews.
Thirdchild I’m in for the final round of portfolio reviews for Blue Sky’s Vis Dev position (but I think you knew that from the nice Tumblr ask you left me! Thanks, sweetie!). Just learned that there’ll only be one hire per department.
@underwood Hah, you’re welcome! I’m up for Story. It’s nice they start narrowing down their choices so quickly after the application deadline. Maybe we’ll end up out east together this summer. ![]()
Thirdchild Agreed! I didn’t realize how quick the turnover was. A week, huh? Crazy! I’m actually not too hopefully about getting the final position, because there are so many better and more intimidating vis dev applicants; it’s an honour to make it this far for me! I’m counting this a victory regardless. I hope you make it out to CT, though! I can’t say I miss the east coast during the winter, but summer’s a different story. Sending good universe vibes your way as well!
@Andrea
Did you apply early on in the process or toward the end of the deadline for Pixar?
Thank you so much for the inspiring words and vibes!!! I shall not fail you. HAHA
Congrats on the Bluesky call back underwood and thirdchildart! My friend from animation got an email from them too! I haven’t heard anything from them, might have because I forgot their time zone and sent it 11PM San Francisco time and it’s already 2AM over there at Connecticut ![]()
TeaBat I applied on 28th of February which is the last day. The deadline is by March 1st.
Hey Guys,
Another week has gone by ![]()
Just wanted to update that I have had no updates on my profile since submission.
I did notice two new views on my portfolio (yesterday and the day before) both from the USA. So maybe they are looking at the portfolios…?
Anyway, just wanted to check in and hear if anybody has seen any activity on their profile/blog.
Cheers and best of luck!
I think they’re going through PUP first. It seems to be PUP that gets reviewed first in previous years too. So hopefully once that round of reviews ends the rest of us should start to receive updates.
Congratulations thirdchildart underwood and Andreagoh. All of yalls work is really cool and deserves the attention it’s getting. Goodluck to you guys and hopefully you get some good news soon!
Best of luck to everyone who applied to PUP! And, thank you, JerBear, for the kind words! Good luck to you as well!
Hi, this is my first time applying for a pixar internship, hoping to earn a story art spot. I finally looked at my profile and the status says I applied on 2/28 and it was updated 3/1 and that “You are not currently being considered for any openings”
Pretty sure what this means, but just wanted to confirm I was rejected so there is no lingering hope =(
portfolio is rachelcherry.portfoliobox.me/
if anyone has advice for when I apply in for fall and winter. Have to try every chance I get.
Chel I applied for Production not Story, so unfortunately, I can’t precisely compare where they are round-wise with the different positions, but my dashboard hasn’t received any message updates since submission besides the dates.
Here’s some quick notes I have on your portfolio:
-Work with flow and try pitching these to an unfamiliar audience (or friend). See if they can understand the story moments without your guidance. I’m a little confused just from scrolling through your boards, so I think focusing on clarity and pacing would really benefit you.
-Keep practicing gestures! They’ll help provide a sense of action and only help the previous point.
-Be conscious of perspective and staging. Be more adventurous with the camera placement, lenses, angles, and movement.
It might help if you found other story artists with similar interests or styles to learn from. It requires some Googling, but there are so many resources online from blogs and social media of story artists from all different kinds of studios.
And a quick tip I picked up: it’s always better to go for comedy than drama in storyboard portfolios. Have your reviewer in mind. Best of luck in your other applications and future submissions to Pixar!
Thanks for your advice. I will definitely work on it ![]()
Hey Chel!
I agree with underwood on his feedback, one thing you could work for next time is perspective, some of the grids you’ve drawn to show where the floor is are a little messy and give the wrong idea about what kind of terrain are the characters standing.
I also noticed that on your “Last Goodbye” piece, things get a little repetitive with the composition, characters are almost always centered on single shots.
There’s tons of tutorials on perspective available in youtube or whatnot. But if you want something thorough you should check the ones in the Gnomon Workshop [url]Gary Meyer | The Gnomon Workshop
As for the note on composition, take any Spielberg or Kurosawa or Coen Bros. or Hitchcock film of your preference and draw out every single shot you see in little thumbnails.
Draw them quick, keep them clear and focus on general lighting, composition, basic gesture and INTENTION.
The idea is not to get composition ideas for your stuff, but instead think about the purpose and the reasoning behind the shot, why it’s making you feel the way it’s making you feel. Why is the camera moving? How are the filmmakers driving my eyes? Why is this character/object in the shot? Why did they cut to this shot of this dude so early in the scene? How is this scene building up?
All the guys I mentioned above treat most of their scenes as little three act plays. Think about their structure as well.
ROCK ON!!
Does anyone know what kind of questions they would ask on a phone interview?
Hey underwood and toystoryshark,
Thank you so much for the advice, it means a lot to me that you are helping me ![]()
Good luck to you, and to everyone with these internships and anything else you are working had for
