A freeware 3D modeling and animation software called Blender.
As well as a freeware software called makehuman for the human characters.
I like them both (though unfortunately you have to worry about simulated nudity with makehuman as its designed to create anatomically correct human beings. I really donāt like it. But I have ways of avoiding it.)

Hey, I just got back from my library a while ago, and I got this book written in the '80s called Animation: From Script To Screen by Shamus Culhane. He was a Disney artist back when Mickey Mouse was first being created. I am like so excited to read it! 
Jon: So you do computer modeling? Cool! My favorite is the one with the robot sweeping. Iāve never used Blender, but Iāve heard of it. I do, however, model and animate using Autodesk 3DS Max (check the link in my sig ). So, do you (or do you ever plan to) animate things?

Itās a cool piece of software. Just as good as autodesk Maya. I think.
