May the best forumer win this voting! ![]()
Sorry for the late reply. I was without Internet yesterday. Iāve gotten a vote from K9Girl and possibly Sealy but not the other ones you mentioned. The vote total is at 8 votes now. Iām excited for the results too.
I wonāt be here on November 24th though so I think they may be revealed on the day before instead.
Thatās okay. Why will you be gone?
MissCarrera: Thatās fine!
And I think thatāll work⦠makes for less of a wait. ![]()
Pixarfan91: Itās probably due to her internet, as yesterday was a Thursday too.
Oh, because no family comes over on Thanksgiving Iāll be here.
Iāll be on a little bit, but probably not much⦠my mom, my closest brother and I are going to help out with some sorta food-drive thing, and the rest of the timeāll be spent helping make dinner. But Iāll be sure and come on at least once. ![]()
5 more days now.
Actually no, but good guess!
Last time it was due to Internet but everything is fine now.
Iāll be at school that day and Iām staying at school afterwards until late that night. Our school has a peformance night thing and Iām helping out as well as participating in the flash mob.
I think it is handy that it lands on that day though, most of you wonāt be here that day due to Thanksgiving anyways. And I agree, shorter wait!
Well, I already know who is winning but I canāt wait to tell you guys! ![]()
I canāt wait to see who wins this. Whatās the flash mob going to do?
Iāll be here since we never go anywhere. Might help from time to time. In school, did anyone else get both Friday and Thursday off.
We did. I always wondered why they always gave us the extra day off. I think itās because of Black Friday Christmas shopping or something.
I alwayās though it was because it would be useless to go back one day, and then itās the weekend.
^^Both reasons there make sense. I, of course, donāt go to public school, but weāll still pretty much get both days off. ![]()
Hmmm⦠flash mob, whatās that? ![]()
You know, can somebody explain to me what Thanksgiving actually is? We donāt celebrate it here ![]()
Itās kind of hard to actually explain what Thanksgiving is.
Pretty much, itās a day we have a very big dinner and give thanks for everything we have. Thereās generally a turkey eaten as the main dish. The actual origins of it are debatable (now that I go and look it up on Wikipedia
), but what most Americans believe is that it was started by the Pilgrims who landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts back in 1621. They had been having a hard time finding food when the winter came, but the Native Americans of that area shared their food with them and taught them how to live off the local land. Thus, a feast was held, giving thanks for their survival and the new abundance of food. ![]()
The main dishās are usally turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, green beans, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and pie.
And often families will get together to have the meal.
^ I didnāt think about other places not celebrating Thanksgiving. You guys gave a great description of it though. ![]()
A flash mob is when a bunch of people pre-plan a dance for a specific time and place. For example, many people do them at large public places like New York. People will just walk around randomly at the place and then when the time arrives they all break into a dance that they created. It is a surprise though, so innocent bystanders have no idea and get a free dance show.
The one Iām doing is a little different though, we are doing it at my school. We are having a performance night where people sing, dance, act, etc. But at the start of the show we will just be milling through the crowd and then when the music starts we all rush up to the stage and do a dance together.
There is quite a few of us, and we do a lot of unison moves so it should look really cool! ![]()
Only 2 more days.
