Small plane crashes into two-story building

By ROB GILLIES (AP) – 1 hour ago

TORONTO — A small plane has crashed into a small office building just north of Toronto near an airport.

York region police Constable Gary Phillips says the plane crashed into the roof of the Thinkway Toys Division building Tuesday. The roof was engulfed in flames following the crash, but it was quickly doused by emergency crews.

Phillips says it is not immediately clear whether anyone in the building or plane was injured nor how many people were on board the plane.

The plane crashed through part of the roof, with some of the debris strewn on the roof.

Nearby Buttonville Airport is surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods.

Phillips says he doesn’t know if it was leaving the airport or making a final approach.

Yikes, that’s not something I ever thought I’d hear…hope no one died.

Edit: two people are feared to have been killed, though all 14 Thinkway employees safely evacuated.

Wonder how bad the injuries were…and if one of them was Jenny Size.

Edit: according to this report, two reported injuries were minor.

I was thinking the same, I sure hope not. I know I shouldbt be, but I’m annoyed at that damn little few man plane. Those things ALWAYs f up, because of they’re size, and independat nature. If it were a commerical liner, it would be inspected like no other before each and after take off. I know its no ones fault, but its just a bad accident.

EDIT- Once again, please do not use strong curse words in your posts.

That’s very sad, a really tragic accident. I feel especially bad for the friends and families of those who have died, it must be such a terrible shock to them. You’re probably right, TylerHaslett, they don’t inspect small aircraft in the same way that they do with something larger and more commercial, but then again, we don’t know exactly what caused the accident.

As this is not directly related to any of the Toy Story films, I’m gonna move this thread to the Off Topic section of the boards.

That’s quite shocking to hear (and also rather bizarre with the Toy Story Collection going on). Doesn’t sound like it did a lot of damage to the building, but the more important thing is hoping that those who survived will be okay. Do you think this will affect their shipment of the toys in any way?

I’m not sure if this is the warehouse they ship from, or another, but I’ve read that it destroyed the toy makers office, so new product could be slim to none for awhile. Just horrible news. I’m wondering if they even shipped any of the non-tsc collection line, becasue they might not hit for a long time. Who knows though.

Wow… the poor families of the pilot and passenger. May our prayers go out to them.
