Yeah, it’s not so much that though, I want a new world and new characters, or I feel I am being robbed.
When it come to a sequel, I just
want a good story, and I want it to be told in the best way possible. I also believe a good theme is
important.
Sorry! I don’t hate it, I
just think it could have been much better than it was.
I’m a huge Peter Pan
fan, from the original play and stories up to Finding Neverland, and I just think
that if they were going to do a sequel they should have done the sequel. In the
original play, the last act is Peter Pan coming to see Wendy after he’s forgotten about her yet again and he
stumbles across her daughter instead, who begs Wendy to let her go to Neverland because Peter will always need
someone to go with him. And the idea is that it keeps going on, and it works so well, it’s bittersweet and
heartbreaking and beautifully funny, but they went down the Disney Sequel™ route instead where the children
are the exact opposites of the parents (The Little Mermaid, One
Hundred and One Dalmations, Jungle Book – well, with the wee girl
instead of Mowgli’s child, obviously), and I didn’t think it worked as well. Plus, they changed the full
character of Peter Pan!
(I still have it on DVD, though! I do love seeing more of the Lost
Boys!)
XD
Now, I loved TS2, better than
the original. But I dont think there needs to be a 3. What else needs to be done? To me it seems almost like
running it into the ground. I’m not saying that TS3 will be a dud (cuz has Pixar ever created a dud?) I’m
confident that it’ll be decent & I’ll probably want to see it but I dont think it’s neccessary…
Yeah, I feel the same. We’ve done Toy Story, let’s see
another world.
I say go for it. I really
don’t mind seeing these characters in a new story once more… I love them so much. Tim Allen says this new story
is stronger than the previous ones, and since Lasseter is still on board, I believe that. Either way, Pixar will
still make original films (with new characters, like the upcoming Ratatouille) so a sequel would fit just fine.
I’m looking forward to it.
I agree ![]()
Where’d you hear this; is there
some interview with Tim Allen that I missed or something? I mean, I’m not saying that I doubt that he said it,
I just want to read it and, more importantly, anything else he said for myself. ![]()

00]Tim Allen: ‘Toy Story 3’ on Track
Yeah I seen that, so it’s
kinda confirmed then.
This site lists movies that will one day be available for purchase on
Itunes…cinematical.com/2006/09/06/f … s-revealed
Disney/Pixar: Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3 (don’t ask me), A Bug’s Life,
Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars.
Yeah, whats the dets on that by the way.
Will the movies be full/high res.
I’ve heard the rumors of TS3
and some potential story ideas even before Disney acquired Pixar. John wasn’t against TS2 – he was only upset
that Eisner’s Disney refused to count the film contractually. Actually, there were several ideas left over from
TS that were utilized in TS2, including the garage sale and greedy toy collector character.
I’m glad TS3
is back in Lasseter’s hands … I trust him to do it right and I HATED the rumored “Buzz RECALLED”
script idea Disney was considering had Circle 7 actually got ahold of John’s child.
Pixar’s films are
all grounded in some reality … something that most people can connect with on an emotional way. The idea that a
mother would really spend her time or money to send a recalled toy back to a foreign manufacturer … well,
let’s be honest, very few recalls are successful. In the real world, a mother would ignore the recall – or, if
really worried for the safety of her child – would toss it in the trash.
No, I don’t want to think
there’s anything seriously wrong with Buzz – especially after he learned in TS and TS2 that being a toy can be
a pretty fantastic thing.
I suspect the plot line – if the rumors are true – will focus a bit more on
Jessie. There’s a great emotional story thread there to explore – a (woman/female) learning to trust and
finding herself lovable after being so unceremoniously dumped by her previous owner. It’s a story that might
resonate with children in divorced families as well as any adult, male or female, who has been
“crushed” or disappointed in a romantic relationship.
Can’t stand her, so it better not be. ![]()
When you
come to enjoy certain characters, you want to see them in more adventures. You don’t want the story to end.
That is not a license for making cruddy sequels (as cruddy sequels can ruin the affection for
characters).
I look forward to Toy Story 3 as I feel it is in the right hands. I think Lasseter and Pixar
in general respect their creations and their continued work with them will reflect that.
I think the reason that they’re making ‘Toy Story 3’ is because showing us
what’s gonna happen next (definitely should be about Andy getting bored with his toys)
I heard rumours
(don’t take me for granted here) that Andy does get bored with his toys & the story focuses how the toys
gonna find a new home rather than being thrown in the dumpster. Now from this, I can see a good storyline.
Hmm, I guess…Though there is only so far one can go with something along those
lines, and since Toy Story 2 did kind of deal with the whole ‘toys being abandoned’ thing, especially with
Jessie, then I’d be a little hesitant to see them doing it again.
I think everyone think’s it’s
inevitable for Andy to grow up, but I get the feeling that we may just not see it at all, and that the TS3 story
will be something we’re not even thinking about!
I think I know how it
ends…
