POLL: Randall's intent during door warehouse chase sequence

It’s funny how Randall has to use up energy to make energy. 8D

The thing is, I wouldn’t be surprised either if Waternoose knew his way around the SE, but I doubt he’d be able to do so much as take off a bolt. That’s where Randall comes in, so kicking off his right-hand guy doesn’t make sense to me when there are still plenty of improvements to make and kinks to take care of, which are things probably only Randall would know how to handle. Even if he had jotted down notes that describe specifically how the machine works, a few more problems are guaranteed to arise that Waternoose wouldn’t know how to fix, unless he hires another engineering lackey. Fungus could do this too, but I have a feeling he wouldn’t quite come up to par with Randall’s ability to take care of business, particularly since his gittery tendencies get the best of him. But now I’m just rambling off. Sorry. =P

Well I’d give that Waternoose might find a way around it. Since the Scream Extractor took awhile to finish and was in it’s testing phase (and as seen with Fungus…rather in working condition to a degree) it would be a good prototype. Scare Co. probably has researchers and developers that could improve on it once it’s “Accepted by the public”

Having the Scream Extractor as a viable means of obtaining energy would mean that not ONE, but several, such machines would have to be used. The one in the movie was most likely a prototype, which would have been refined many times before the design was actually applicable to the job at hand. Once the original, i.e., protype, design had been worked out, the original’s designer would NOT have necessarily been required. A team of engineers could have taken that same design, refined it, and made it into something that was more suitable for the job. As it was, having a single such machine for collecting Screams would have still been very inefficient, since only ONE child at a time could have been used, and even scaring kids the old-fashioned way was more productive than that. Also, the size of the machine would have made it difficult to use, so it would have been necessary to create a smaller, more streamlined version, if you will, that itself would have have required so much engery to use. Again, Randall would not have been needed once he finished and proved the prototype, anymore than we still need Henry Ford around to show us how to operate cars, or Thomas Edison to show us how to use a light bulb. One of the main considerations that any inventor must take into account is that others should be able to quickly learn how to use and repair the new technology that they invented. My grandfather invented a machine back in the late '40’s, something that most of you will see the results of today, if you happen to have rolls of toilet tissue, paper towel, or wrapping paper that’s wound around a spiral cardboard tube. He invented the Spiral Winding machine for Sonoco Products, and taught a small team of people how to use it, then THEY went out and taught workers in plants worldwide how to use the machine, which is still in use today. Unlike Henry J. Waternoose and many of the bosses I’ve had to work for, though, my grandfather’s supervisor at that time was an honest, down-to-earth guy. Still, I bet very few of you out there have ever heard of my grandfather, Joe McKenzie, since he never got credit for that machine, nor did he receive much in the way of financial compensation. He was the sort who was content with that, but that’s because he was a Type 2 personality, driven by a need to help others, much like Wilt in “Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends”. It was satisfying to him just to know he’d made someone’s life a little easier. Randall(and Mike) is a Type 3, driven by competiveness and the need to be recognized for his achievements, so he would not have been content to simply remain in the background, and Waternoose knew this.

Well true, as said Scare Co. R&D division would handle it afterward.
I have to admit though the process of HOW it would all be carried out would be something to think on.
YOUR GRANDFATHER?? Didn’t know that PBL.
Good point.
