Pre Pixar Lassiter

Hello,

I have a picture I inherited when my father passed away, that was drawn by John Lassiter, in 1977. There is a bit of a story behind, this picture. In 77 my father owned an AC Delco parts warehouse. John’s father, was a Chevrolet parts manager, and was a good customer of my dads. The Dodgers were in the World Series in 77, and my dad gave John’s dad a pair of tickets for one of the games. To show his gratitude, Mr Lassiter told my dad , that John would do a picture for him of any subject he would like. The story of the subject goes like this.

When my sister was younger she had a boy friend who would ride his bicycle almost 20 miles up a very steep highway for 5 of those miles, just to come visit her for a few hours. One day on his way home, as he hit the steep downhill section, he had accelerated to 50 mph! As it turns out, the Torrance PD motorcycle officer that pulled him over, was a very close friend of our family. He cited my sisters friend for 50 in a 45, and the picture is depicting the event. My dad presented the picture to the officer, and the picture hung in the lobby of the Torrance Police Dept for nine years until his retirement, when he gave it back to my dad.
