WARNING: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS, NOT ONLY FOR ‘TOY STORY 3’, BUT ALSO FOR ‘PREDATORS’
Has anyone seen the new ‘Predators’ movie, produced by Robert Rodriguez (one of my favorite film-makers btw)?
Well it’s at 63% on rotten tomatoes, which is not bad at all, and the critics that liked it say really wonderful things about it and how this should have been the worthy direct sequel to the original. I loved this movie, and along with Toy Story 3, it is my favorite movie of the summer thus far, and one of my favorite of the year as of yet.
The reason I bring this up, is because I found that the theme of Predators was quite similar to one of Toy Story 3’s main themes: [spoil]a group of outsiders are forced into a world filled with despotic inhabitants, from which they try to escape[/spoil]. In Predators, the inhabitants are obviously the predator creatures. In TS3, [spoil]it’s Lotso’s gang[/spoil].
Let’s consider just for a second that these movies are the same because of that theme (I know they’re not, but I’m trying to prove a point). Now, I already mentioned how good Predators is, and you can go watch it yourself and I’m sure you’ll agree. The cool thing that I observed is that Toy Story 3 is that same awesome, exciting, adventurous, and interesting film, but on top of that, it has far more depth, emotion, story, and amazingness to it!!! So it’s like watching Predators (which is an amazing film), but going into even more detail and much more plot and thematic content. Of course, that’s only in TS3, I haven’t even mentioned that it already has two outstanding prequels.
So TS3’s experience is like watching Predators, an already good experience, but topped with content and richness galore, and a more extended plot. Not to mention two epic prequels that each stand on their own, and are both loaded with their own amazing and unique content. In Predators, we had never seen the “outsider group”, but in TS3, the “outsider group” happened to be well-developed characters that we had already known and loved. This emphasizes that TS3 is so good that it can stand on its own, without the first two films. That’s how good it is.
Now, I know that these movies are completely different from each other, but I found that connection in the plot and I just thought about how epic TS3 really is, not that I didn’t think so before. So, in other words, to sum it all up, I LOVE PIXAR!!!
