PS3 pandemonium

A local TV news story reported on the soon-to-be-released Playstation 3

and the gamers who can’t wait. They’re already camping out in tents days before

the system hits the shelves at Best Buys and other stores. Can you say…;-o?

I don’t care if I get a

PS3 right away or ever. I have my sights set on the Nintendo Wii. I’ve been a Nintendo fan all my life and

always will be. The games are much more fun and innovative.

But back to the PS3…

Does anyone

else think that the people who are currently camped outside of stores are out of their minds?

And a

question to all fellow gamers here on the forums…

Will you be getting the PS3 or the Wii, and

why?

~~=oP

I

will definetly get the Wii because I like how they said the controler will work . Maybe it will do that for the

cars video game . then i could really fell like doc hudson . lol

The’re crazy, especially if it tehre’s snow on the

ground where they live.

I want a Wii because.

A) Playstaion 3 costs $660 dollars here. Whereas the

Wii is much cheaper.

B) Playstaion doesn’t make as many games as I like. Whereas the Wii has loads of

them. XD

C) How can you beat a controller that you can use in the Legend of Zelda, and swing the

controller, which swings the sword on screen? XD Close enough to virtual reality. XD

I was going to say that yeah,

those people are definitely crazy, but now, I’m actually not sure. I mean, when a Pixar movie comes out I get

there a mere hour or two before the first showing, but then, in that instance I already have my ticket, and even

if I didn’t, there are more than a few thousand tickets for the movie throughout the country. I guess I

can see where they’re coming from, but I wouldn’t do it even if I were a PS fan.

As for PS3 vs. Wii,

definitely getting the Wii. I’ve never owned any system except a Nintendo one, because of the consistent

quality of the games and the fact that not every game is a first-person shooter (which I’m really bad at, not to

mention the fact that gratuitous violence just annoys me in general). Plus, I’m completely psyched for the

controller (obviously), and the backwards-compatability is also really exciting, since N64 is the oldest Nintendo

console that I actually own, and it also means that I don’t have to worry about fiddling around with swapping

wires to play a game that is on a different console (which is the main reason that the N64 gets played about

twice a year, whenever nostalgia overlaps with non-laziness ).

Even without all of that, Super Smash

Bros. Brawl alone would be enough anyways.

Yeah, I kinda didn’t talk at all about the PS3… But I’m

not really qualified to talk about it at all, whereas I’m very qualified to talk about the Wii. I tend to be

quite extraordinarily biased when searching for news. :unamused:

Well…know, let me see…

1) First of all, the whole

“camping-out-days-before-the-thing-comes-out” is absolutely nothing

compared to what some fans did concerning the release of Episode One: The Phantom

Menace – which was a heck of a ridiculously bad film. Now those guys

– ah man, they camped out weeks, I repeat,

weeks before that hideous production came out. Some

people came all the way from Alaska and across the country to see it here in California, at the big ol’ Arc

Light theater.

And that, my friends, is the meaning of “obsessed”.

These nutters for the PS3 are wimps compared to those Star Wars geeks. Of course, I guess I should talk; I waited

four hours in the freezing cold to see Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith in a

cinema that was one to two hours away from my house. :unamused:

2) More than

likely, I probably will not purchase the new PS3 console, simply because I’m perfectly fine with my PS2 platform

– it has never failed me yet. Well, it broke the tv…but…hey. :stuck_out_tongue:

However, since the new

Indiana Jones game will be available on the PS3 console, I just might buy it. But

again, I may not. I have never played with or owned a Nintendo of any kind, so I can’t really judge on which is

the better platform here. You guys say the quality and games of/for the Nintendo “cubes” are more

adequate than the PlayStation ones, so I’ll take your word for it.

For now, I’ll just stick with my

good ol’ PC and PlayStation 2 games.

I’ve always been strictly Sony but I ain’t that anxious for a PS3. If I had the $$$, I would buy both,

to keep my dedication to the PS family, but the Wii seems very instresting too. :-D) The backward compatibility

has me always going for Sony through, my old games never go to waste.

A

PS3 for Christmas sounds quite nice. BUt I’m a 3-way-ponder. A PS3, Xbox360, or a Nintendo Wie?

More on the story…

The

people in line were ordered to get rid of their tents and other stuff by the Best Buy staff.

Now if they wish to wait for a PS3, they have to stand. Ouch.

Also, most of

the people who were interviewed didn’t want a PS3 for themselves. They plan to sell them on

eBay.

;-o

~~=oP

Best Buy is

a dork. All of Best Buy together collectively makes up one dork. (It’s a big one.) Their Geek Squad overcharges

you like crazy and wants to send your computer away for weeks - just to replace a sound card - and they won’t

even let their employees tell customers “Merry Christmas.” In fact, Dr. Falwell was saying yesterday at

chapel that people should boycott Best Buy because of that last point - he is kind of at the forefront of the

“keep Christmas around” movement.

(Please note that I’m not encouraging you to boycott them -

I don’t shop there anyway, Christmas issues aside - but I thought I’d throw that last part in, because it was

kind of funny when he said it. Guess you had to be there…)

But on the topic at hand, I don’t play video

games (the extent of my video game prowess only goes as far as the old “Duck Hunt” and then

“Tetris” and “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” on the computer), so I won’t be buying

the PS3 or the Wii, but if I had to, I’d buy the Wii, because I always preferred Nintendo (again, because of

“Duck Hunt”), and because “Wii” is fun to say. Wiiiiiii…

Don’t mind me. I think I

might just have finally lost my senses. Stupid English papers…

A lot of people are realising that 360 + Wii = Slightly

more than a PS3.

That’s something to consider.

I’m not getting any Generation Seven console for a

while. I’ve got far too many PS1/2 games to play my way through.

KE - To tell you the truth, I have also sent my two cents

worth to Best Buy informing them that I am displeased with their decision to ban the

use of using the term “Merry Christmas”, simply because they don’t wish to “offend” anybody.

Well…I’m offended.

I can’t shop there much anyway, simply because I don’t have the bucks to pay for

their merchandise, but still…

As for the PlayStation 3/Wii issue, I think I’ll just be better off

without it. Besides, that’s all I need: more games to keep my nose out of books. Heheh – I don’t think

so.

Mitch - Not to get too off-topic , but i get in trouble reading . like during class and all .

and it’s not like i’m reading magazines , it’s real books . but it’s not like you can do that , your

homeschooled :stuck_out_tongue: .

TSS - I already have the XBOX360 . :stuck_out_tongue: But it’s kind of dumb , since they make some

of the games only for xbox , and u can’t play them in the xbox360 un less u have this thing . i forgxot what

it’s called . so basically , you would end up paying more that a ps3 .

Lucky you. Oh well. I have an “IOU an Xbox360”

from my parents, but I’m saving that for something else. I don’t want to rush yet.

Best Buy needs to learn to incorporate the common sense that Disney has evoked over

the years and I have tried to incorporate into this site.

You should asses your guests and do what’s most

appropriate. If I have a young lady come in with a cross around her neck then I’m certainly going to say Merry

Christmas, if a man is wearin a Yamaca then it’s Happy Honnukah, if a black lady has a set of Happy Kwanza cards

sticking out of her Hallmark bag then you bet it’s Happy Kwanza, and if a Middle Eastern lady is in full

headdress then it’s surely Happy Ramadan. It’s just natural. People respond much better if you talk to them

than if you simply try to not offend them - in fact that actually puts alot of people (myself included) off.

I’m a big boy, I can take being wished a happy holiday even if it’s one I don’t celebrate because hey - I’d

like that day to be happy or merry anyway. So if you come into my store and wish me a Merry Christmas then you

can bet you’re getting one right back.

Dash - Well said, Dash.

I do respect other people’s views; hence, I am not prone to “put off” anyone, so to speak,

according to their personal opinions and such. However, the fact that Best Buy has

chosen to “ban” the use of “Merry Christmas” completely – or, at least, for the time being

– has just upset me.

On the other hand, that’s just me… Everyone has their own views and opinions.

I’m just another innocent bystander who happens to give her two cents worth every once in a while… Heh.

:unamused:

PS3 or Wii?

I think, right now, neither for me. I’ve got a PS2, but I play it rarely now because I’m too busy with

other things. Buying a PS3 means buying the games with them, and they’re gonna cost about ?60 (I think about

$110) each, here!

I wouldn’t buy the XBox 360, since all of the games seem to be first person shooters-

the exact kind of game that I do NOT like- and PS3 is following that trend.

The Wii looks fun, despite

the bad graphics, and it is a lot cheaper, but there are some that are doubting just how playable the motion

sensors are. The Wii is very geared towards being multiplayer, and the whole idea of playing a games console with

your family is really being pushed upon, but I’d be playing by myself, so this key feature isn’t worth anything

to me.

Nope, I’ve gone for something a little more practical- the Nintendo DS Lite. I haven’t had a

handheld console before, and the touch screen, as well as the entire console itself, looked so cool, I just had

to get it for Christmas. I needed something that I can just pick up and play, wherever and whenever I want, so

the DS Lite will do me just fine, I think.

I

was watching the news today and they said that over 2,000 people in Boston are rushing to get Wii and/or PS3 I

for one have a PS2 i used to have a PS1, but it bit the dust.
