In Toy Story 2, when Woody, Jessie, Bullseye and The Prospector were playing on all of Al’s stuff, why didn’t any of those toys come to life? I mean they had a bank and a toy snake and other objects which would be clearly named a “toy”, so why didn’t they come to life aswell? I know its a kids movie but still, what do you think makes a “toy”?
In Toy Story 3, when all the toys are on the conveyor belt moving toward the incinerator, Slinky flys towards the ceiling because part of him is metal. All the other toys grab onto something metal and fly to the ceiling aswell. But when Woody, Buzz and Lotso get up there they see all the things the other toys grabbed onto without the toys! They see the pan, the horseshoe, the fan etc. but they dont see Slinky? They get down there and SLINKY IS DOWN THERE! Why wouldnt he still be on the ceiling?
A tried to figure out the first question myself and I got the feeling that toys are alive or not just when it suits the plot. I mean, even at the toy store most toys are motionless even when they are knocked down by other toys, but barbies are having a party. And Prospector is mint in the box, but he is alive. Maybe toys just decide for themselves how to act?
As for Slinky, that sounds like a reasonable explanation. Besides, the magnet was too far from the conveyor belt to attract Slink again.
Heres another question about Toy Story, remember how Sarge would communicate to Woody and the rest of the toys through the baby monitor. Well they had the baby monitor becuase of Molly, so wouldnt Andy’s mom hear the toys come to life since she has the baby monitor? And also I don’t agree with your Slinky explanation, I mean it wasnt like they were holding Slinky down once they were back on the conveyor belt again?
It’s the official explanation, anyway, since I think it was Lee Unkrich himself who told us in his Twitter. Apparently they wanted to have it on screen at first but they changed their mind afterwards.
In Toy Story There were only two baby moniters in the clutches of sarge and woody. And no Ms.Davis probably would not keep a moniter with her because one, Molly coul not talk.
You’ve lost me with the baby moniter thing. If there was a baby moniter in the room, the toys would just know to be quiet and stay out of range. Plus, if Molly’s sleeping, they’d definately not want to make noise.
