Someone on the Wall-E Forum posted this excellent article from The Australian about the sound in WALL-E compared to other films.

A very praising article, thanks! It’s great for Ben Burtt’s sound work to be getting recognition. Sound effects and foley work is one of those components that you don’t consciously appreciate, but take it away and you’d notice for sure!
A very interesting article to read! What Burtt said about movies having so many layers of sound unnecessarily is so true, and I liked the comparison between WALL-E and The Dark Knight. Thanks for showing us that, Le_Chocolat.

He did such a great job on star wars with the sounds that if he were to have done poorly with walle it would have been a disaster.
His quality is so great he is expected to do well.
Just look at how Star Wars was done…very impressive.
