R.I.P. Satoshi Kon

Satoshi Kon, director of Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue and Paprika, has unexpectedly passed away at age 47.

While most of his films have never been my cup of tea, Millenium Actress is almost Ghibli-esque and worthy of one of the top spots in the Anime hall of fame.

R.I.P. Satoshi Kon :frowning:

I’m a huge fan of Paprika ever since I saw it a few years ago with some friends. You could say it was the precursor to Nolan’s Inception.

I’ve wanted to watch Perfect Blue, since I do like the occasional psychological thriller, and the plot of Millenium Actress sounds interesting, especially since it comes recommended by totoro.

R.I.P. Sataoshi Kon

I was sad to hear that Satoshi Kon passed away… I’ve only watched one of his works, Millenium Actress, but it is a beautiful and enthralling film. For ages I’ve wanted to watch Paprika- maybe I’ll buy it next time I go shopping.

p.s. thedriveintheatre- When I heard the plotline of Inception, I did think that it sounded a bit like Paprika.

I really never read or watched his stuff. What else did he do?

Pixarfan- he also did a movie called Tokyo Godfathers, which is a really nice watch. I thought I’d find it boring but it was packed full of emotions. It involves three homeless people finding a a abandon baby in a pile of trash an now they aim to return the baby to its real parents. Advise you to watch it.

Anyways Satoshi Kon was an incredible talent. He had the ability to use animation to the fullest and Paprika was one beautiful movie, even though I found it strange at some parts. It had a lot of imagination and somewhat influenced Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Its such a shame that his not with us, we’ve yet to see what this man really had to offer. He created some masterpieces, but was unable to add some more under his belt. May he rest in peace and my wishes are with his family.

Sounds like he made good stuff. Let him R.I.P.
