What’s the average day like for Radiator Springs citizens? We know that they get their meals from Flo’s V8 Cafe, but what about the other citizens? Do they have enough money? Of course Flo is rich, since she owns the only restaraunt in town (unless some residents prefer organic), but what about Mater? Not many people need a towing very often. And what about Sarge? No one needs government surplus, it seems, especially among the Radiator Springs citizens. And of course we must think about Lizzie. Who would want souvenirs of their own town? Well, I was wondering what you all think about what life in Radiator Springs was like before Lightning came over.
Who says Flo is rich? She likely acquired the cafe during the days when the town was prosperous. She might have some cash from being a showcar, but we don’t know really what the magnitude of Motorama Girl success was.
I think life in Radiator Springs is relatively slow paced, and I don’t think the residents buy things from each other very often (with the exception of gas), hence making any small amounts of money they have last longer. They seem to keep their bonds strong not through keeping a strong economy within the ghost town but by maintaining the social bonds and the ties that bind them to the place.
I don’t know but I think Lightning saved the town. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been too long before most of the residents would have had to leave. I’m sure there weren’t enough tourists like Van and Minnie to pass through and buy stuff. Maybe some of the older residents lived off a pension.
