Rally To Restore Sanity // March To Keep Fear Alive

Will anybody here be going to the Jon Stewart rally and Stephen Colbert march on Oct. 30th? I’m seriously considering flying over from Australia to attend!

For those who haven’t heard about them yet, click the links under the banners for the official pages.

They will be happening at the same place around the same time :stuck_out_tongue:

I gotta say, I’d love to go if I had the money. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun! Plus I’d be interested to see how these 2 are going to stage it. There’s a reason they have them both at the same time and place, and I kinda know why, but I’d love to see exactly what happens.

Is Jon Stewart a Liberal? Or a pseudo-Liberal (cos’ my impression of Mr Colbert is that he’s a pseudo-Conservative who’s just pretending to be one to send up the real ones)?

You have to excuse my ignorance. It’s just that I’m not American (although I know you aren’t too, Flister, heehee).

lennonluvr9 - It would definately be a whole lotta fun, and one of the main reasons I’d love to go would be to meet lots of cool and interesting people!

thedriveintheatre - To my understanding, Jon Stewart is a moderate Democrat, and Stephen Colbert has only revealed that he’s absolutely nothing like his character. His character initially being a parody of Bill O’Reilly from FOX News.

Off topic - Your sig says Ratatouille is on 7two this weekend. I swear I saw it on TV only a month or so ago!

Huh. I’m in Sydney, so maybe it’s only for NSW.

Nope, it’s on here too. Again. lol. Oh well, it’s a good way to get kids really hooked on Pixar! When I was young Ch.10 used to air The Blues Brothers every 2 or 3 months. I never missed it and I still love it now

Back to the topic at hand:
I’ve unfortunately decided that I cannot attend the rally and march. I’m not ready for my big America trip yet. I talked to a guy from Sydney who is going with his wife; apparently I wont fit in the suitcase.

I wish I could go, ever so much! I couldn’t stop laughing when both Stewert and Colbert made their specile announcements!

Off-topic: If you check out your weekly TV guide today, Flister, you’ll never guess which movie is showing next Saturday on 7…

Somebody should give these two a pair of boxing gloves each.

Stephen: Are you scared Jon?
Jon: I’m…reasonably concerned!

thedriveintheatre - CARS! Yay! Ch. 7 is impressing me with this consistent James Bond and Pixar programming.

Instead of boxing gloves, I say give them steel chairs. Have it broken up by Sarah Palin (Tina Fey) and then they dance with Bristol Palin (Conan O’Brien).

ellie-jessie-eve - hahaha, it’s gonna be epic. I hope there’s a live feed, so then I can invite some friends round for a sanity & fear party

Flister: I hope so too, I wish I could go! But alas, I live across the country from Washington!

Flister - Haha, you notice the JB programming as well, huh? I hope it’s a lead-up to a Wall-E and Quantum of Solace release this year, judging by the number of '08 premieres going to FTA.

You Yanks are so lucky. I say we escalate the violence and arm them with water pistols!

Man, I wish I could go to The March To Keep Fear Alive, cuz I love Stephen Colbert, but it’s in D.C. and I’m in Cali :frowning: Oh well, I can still watch The Colbert Report.

Have they shown Casino Royale yet? I still haven’t seen the those because I was so disappointed in their complete depature from the classics.

Water pistols! It might turn into more of a strip show than a rally…
Wet business suit contest!

Are you kidding? Casino Royale is one of the best adaptations that is the closest to the portrayal of Bond in Ian Fleming’s stories! It’s why I like Sean Connery’s ‘Goldfinger’, Roger Moore 's ‘For Your Eyes Only’, TImothy Dalton’s ‘License to Kill’ and Pierce Brosnan’s ‘Goldeneye’ for the same reasons. Cold, intelligent, but ultimately human superspy who has to stop a supervillain with modest means and motives. ‘Die Another Day’ was taking the franchise into absurdist science-fiction territory, so I’m glad they did a return to roots for CR. And yup, they’ve shown it twice on Channel 7 this year, I believe. You should really check it out if you haven’t yet, Flister.

Anyway, heh, sorry for my diversion. Uh, wut… yeah, wet business contest - Very niiice!!! Borat thumbs up :sunglasses:
