Big Spoilers up a head (mostly about the climax and ending):
1st, I want to talk about a crazy-fake fan theory of mine:
The Incinerator scene. Even 24 hours after seeing TS3, I am still thinking about it. You all know how dark (and great) it was. We all know that this is the scene that TS3 will be mostly remembered for, no doubt. But, there’s something about this scene, the rescue, and the ending that made me interpret the last 30 minutes of so an entirely different way; a way that Lee Unkrich and Pixar probably never, ever intended the film to be viewed.
What if the Toys were not saved by The Claw? What if the claw and the entire rest of the movie didn’t physically happen? As in the entire thing all happened in Woody’s mind as he was entering the fire pit/was burned, as a way to cope with his and the other Toys’ oncoming deaths, and as a way to come to terms with leaving Andy?
Just a thought; it’s not true, since the credit scenes do debunk it for the most part. However, the whole thought made the entire movie a whole lot better, imo. As you can see, I’m a bit of a fan of a lot of crazy fan theories (“Ferris Bueller is a figment of Cameron’s imagination” anyone?) and moves are up to your own interpretation, arnt they?
Yeah, just a throw away thought…
2ndly (and again, this was to do with the incinerator): Anyone else get some Portal vibes after watching the part where the gang is running away from the pit on the conveyor belt? I really want to watch that scene again with “4000 Degrees Kelvin” [link] synced with that part.
I also thought of that one Glados quote:
“Didn’t we have some fun, though? Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said ‘Goodbye’ and you were like ‘NO WAY’, and then I was all ‘We pretended we were going to murder you’, that was great.”
(Yeah, I have a bit of a twisted sense of humor)
