RANK Your TOP 5 Animated Films Of 2011

Oh, I liked it. Just not as much as the top 5.

Yeah. I like what I’ve seen this year, but very little that I was in love with, unlike last year (or the year before). I think 2012 will have more variety, by the looks of it.

Next years slate looks pretty good. It isn’t sequel heavy and unoriginal like this year has been.

In 2012 we’ll have some original films, sequels and adaptations, just like this year

I second that. It was more number 6 or 7 on my list.

Oh yeah, which could be said about every year. It’s just that this year it was excessive. Not so fussed about adaptations, because what can be more exciting (or terrifying) as an author than seeing your book or other source being put up on big screen? But sequels, spinoffs and prequels grind my gears. A handful are done well, like Toy Story 2 & 3 and Kung Fu Panda 2, but the vast majority suck, and they rarely ever equal the original film.

Yep, that’s what I hate about sequels. Most of them are terrible and don’t really up to the original. With the exception of a few of them of course.

Totally agree! 2010, 2009, and even 2008 over shadowed 2011 by a lot. Heck, last year, I became obsessed with two of the animated films(arguably 3). I enjoyed all I saw this year except G&J( ), but not profoundly. I didn’t cry, I didn’t “ROFL”, and I certainly did not fall in love with any of this year’s animation.

^I agree too. I didn’t dislike much, only Mars Needs Moms was awful, and yet only one of the animated films i saw this year has made me go “wow that was awesome!”. It’s just been so very averagey.

I’ve only seen Rango and Cars 2 this year (Rango was better). xP A disappointing amount of sequels this year. I’m interested in seeing both Tintin and Arthur Christmas, though.

^Tintin is a funny one. It was (eventually) the only one I was really impressed with this year, and that was only after second viewing, I was sort of a little bit disappointed at first-I felt the screenplay was slightly “off”, and a bit too direct from the comics strangely, and it seemed a little baggy-but the more I thought about it, the more I enjoyed it, if you know what I mean. It was the nagging voice in my head, and then I saw it again and absolutely fell in love. Very interested to see how well it performs in the States. I give it a solid 4 stars and it’s amongst my favourite films this year.
Arthur Christmas was good. Not exceptional, I was a bit disappointed because a lot of the papers have raved about it and hailed it the best thing since sliced bread. I thought it was an adequete kids film with some nice voice acting and a nice moral. Again, it felt a little baggy, and it had some story problems. Having said that, it’s a lot better than some of the drivel that comes out during christmas. I give it 3 stars.

My list:

  1. Cars 2
  2. Winnie the Pooh
  3. Rio

^Very nice list!

Yep. I think out of all the animated films we got this year, Rango was really the only one that I thought was phenominal. I’ll try to check out Tin Tin which comes out around Christmas. I don’t see that film making much here since he isn’t really known in America.

I won’t see anymore movies until next year.

I picked

Puss in Boots
Rango
Winnie the Pooh

It’s not in an order.

Heres my list:

  1. Arthur Christmas
  2. Rio
  3. Happy Feet 2
  4. Puss in Boots
  5. Cars 2

Great list!!!

Haven’t seen Arthur Christmas.

I’m only missing Puss in Boots, Arthur Christmas and TinTin, when I watch them, I’ll write my top 5 of the year, but so far I’ve been in love for Cars 2 and I liked Rango a lot

The only one I refuse to watch is Hoodwinked Too, I think it really looks dreadful ;-p

i’m sorry, i know this is nitpicky…but Tintin is one word, not TinTin, or Tin Tin…just thought i’d add
Has anyone here seen the Hoodwinked sequel, out of interest?
